Recommendation for a basic watch toolkit

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - I’d be surprised if it isn’t but I couldn’t find anything when I tried a search.

Anyway, if I’m going to start fiddling with watches, not fixing or servicing, but, you know, opening them up to see what’s inside, changing straps, removing links, that sort of thing, what would you recommend as a basic toolkit?

Amazon have plenty for sale, and pretty cheap but I’m not sure if those kits have the type of tool I need. As I’m not a professional watchmaker and have trouble changing a plug, I don’t need anything high end, but at the same time I know better than to muck about with a good watch using a butter-knife.

What are the tools I should have and where should I get them? I’m in the UK.

Thank you

Have you tried contacting Cousins? They're in the UK. Send an email to them for what you're after and I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

This should get you started. Try google or the forum search engine for more.

Thank you Dan S. Not sure what I did wrong there. I included “watch tools” in my search terms. Oh well, apologies for adding an unnecessary thread.

I often find it easier to use google, restricting the search to omegaforums.net

Yes, get the white lab coat and that’s all you’ll need. 😎
