    Hello,

I am wondering what strap changing tools you all use. The ones I have are quite bad and came with some straps I bought cheaply online.

Also would be curious to hear about where you bought a ruler for watch specific measurements.

    thanks Y'all.

I have a Bergeron 6111 that has good quality tool ends for straps, brackets, and pins.

Bergeon 6767F. I've got both the F and S, though the F sees all the action.

For measuring search amazon for "vernier caliper" and pick whichever has a good review to price ratio.

+1 for the 6767. Probably the best money I spent in all of watch related things.

I like the same Bergeon strap tool as mentioned above.

For measuring, these calipers are my favorite because they are inexpensive, digital, measure in both metric and English units, accurate, reproducible, and uniquely they have carbon fiber jaws, which represent a nice compromise between plastic (which is too soft for reproducible measurements) and tool steel (which can easily cause fine scratches to the watch if you make the slightest slip).

Best tool by far for strap changes without the scratched lugs. IMG_7626.JPG

    Great question !

    @Om3ga321
I have the same tool but I didn't pay attention to the fork size when ordering - mine came with Rolex sized forks
I believe Omega spring bars tend to be ~1mm in diamater at the tip so can you tell me which forks you use ?
    - F (fine ) or
    -FF (extra fine)

Yea, poorly written and spelled post of mine above. (Thanks for pointing that out @Archer and to @M’Bob for translating )

Overall, the various Bergeon tools are good quality. The 6111 comes with 3 types of tool ends.

    I should stick to pictures.

I like this wider blade tool end for leather watch straps. I’m less likely to damage the lug.

And this tool end has a narrow fork end that’s good for removing and attaching bracelets. The other end is a pin that can be used with some clasps for adjustment and lugs with holes for bar attachment. E290BDAF-F28D-478B-839A-A5954607293D.jpeg

+1 on the Bergeon 6111 for bracelet/strap changes, I find that the large fork is easier for leather straps.

I purchased a simple Bergeon 6767-F tool from Amazon after getting guidance here on OF. Been very happy so far. Have had no issues in changing straps for my watches.

Also green painters tape works well at protecting the lugs from scratches.

I bought a Bergeon 3153 and found it doesn't work as well for spring bar removal as a freeby strap change tool with a finer fork.

The photo shows the relative size of the Bergeon and freeby forks. The Bergeon is not straight-on, so looks smaller than actual. Am I just a bad tradesman blaming his tool, or I should have gone for a more expensive Bergeon, I don't know?

I too am curious about this tool. It’s much less expensive than the Bergeron 6825-PF but, that one looks solid and seems to serve just one purpose! On recent Omegas (and Tudors), a double sided tool seems to work best.

I'm happy with the purchase. Makes removing the bracelet so much easier and saves me from scratching the lugs. I'd recommend.
