morning all. I'm looking to buy a tool for removing the links on my Speedmaster bracelet. The links are the screw type as it's a 2015 model. Any suggestions??

Hodinkee had a Bergeron that I bought for like $25. Works well. Changed the strap on my Tudor no problem. Waiting on my straps for TinTin before I can give it the Speedy Seal of Approval

I recently purchased Swiss made screwdrivers, Horotec brand, with the perfect tip to remove links.

I got a screwdriver with 1.6mm blade for my Rolex watches, and another one with 1.8mm blade for my Omega watches. They work great and they do not damage the screws at all.

You can check screwdriver details here: http://www.ofrei.com/page1701.html

Here is picture of screwdriver tips taken from link above. Note, I am not associated in any way with Otto Frei, I am simply a satisfied customer.

Also, before putting the screw back into the bracelet I use the tip of a pin to put minuscule amount of low strength loctite threadlocker #222 on the screw. I purchased this at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-38653...h+threadlocker

Thank you for the "tips"! I have placed an order for the 1.8mm for my Omega watches, and also a bracelet removal tool.

Ouch! Those are pricey! But compared to scratching my watch... maybe they are a bargain at that. Thanks!

I've got several. A French-made set that came in a nifty wooden box, and a collection of Wira drivers that are superb and often available for 10.00 or so per that will do the job just fine. I use the Wiras for electronics work as well and highly recommend them -- they come in 1.6, 1.8 and 2mm sizes and have slot ends of different widths as well.

Ditto on the bergeron via esslinger. Omega generally puts locktite on their screws, so you'll want to heat up the screws/links with either a heat gun or soldering iron (a suggestion I've read but not yet tried) so that it will loosen the locktite. Otherwise you will have a devil of a time getting those little buggers out.

Never scrimp on tools. Spend the money, get the good stuff. Cheap tools will break and can easily damage whatever it is you are working on.

^^ They use blue loctite which is pretty easy to remove. I had to add a link to both my Speedy '57 and my SMPO. So long as you fit the screwdriver properly they come out pretty easy.

Just be sure to put a tiny dab on the threads before screwing them back in. I put a drop on a plate then used the tip of an exacto similar to an oiler.
