    Happy Christmas OF!

Is there a case back opener that I can purchase online that you will recommend? I am going to be opening mainly vintage Omegas: Constellations, Seamasters etc. I looked on Amazon but they only have very cheap generic ones.

    Thank you,

    Ricky

Thanks for the kind words about the opener, guys :)

A little update for those interested:
Lately the kid and I have had a little fun doing a mold for a little "better grip" rubber accessory. The other day I’ve shipped some to a couple of OF-members and I hope they’ll test it. If feedback is positive, it'll be included in the future.

As mentioned late in the thread Marc links to, there’s a opener for smaller casebacks too. We might do a rubber thingy for this too.

I have a list with a sum up of the ref.’s they fit, provided by OF'ers in the other thread, but this post might already smell too much of a "for sale" post, so..... :) MODS, please remove this post, if I've gone too far.

    Merry Christmas :)

    Thanks.
    Paul

Nice upgrade Paul  and cool product! Now I don't have to limit my Speedmaster hunt to the sapphire case back... And great team project to get your kid involved too! Merry Christmas :)

image.jpeg . This is not a joke. Been using one to open case backs for as long as I can remember.

I've tried to use one as well. However be careful, my dog didn't do the best job of getting all the peanut butter out and I got some smeared into the caseback. ::facepalm2::

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use those on cases that have painted medallions! Not a good idea on cases with 18k medallions whether painted or not either.

....unless, of course, you're TRYING to ruin your watch.

Might as well use a *cough*NATO*cough* I mean one-piece-fabric-strap, or Perlon strap with those case backs while you're at it

Unless the medallion extends to the edge of the case this won't touch it. There is an inch hole in the middle for the peanut butter to go.

The ones in my pics are rubber and I use them on mine all the time. It's actually the ABSOLUTE SAFEST way to open a case back of any metal.

PS: I get you idea about the pressed on gold medallion, but the soft rubber ball is not capable of holding high pressure to become too hard, it's actually stays soft - for kids to throw around. So it grabs the whole area of the case back, not the centre alone.

PS: And what are the cases with painted medallions? Are they Christmas special?

This Bergeon is my favorite for screw-back cases that are not too tight:

One of ours takes the easy PB and then walks away after a few minutes. The other will spend days getting every last bit out of his and the one the other left behind. The problem is not only do these smear PB on your case back, but you do get some on the carpet too!
