Hi Guys,

After straying from Omega in the past few years I've recently been bitten by the bug again and bought a few simple vintage ones. I was attracted to this particular 14713 because of the unusual pinstripe dial. Now, I know buying first and asking questions later is a cardinal sin, but I'd still like to tap into your knowledge if I may.

I used to trust my redial senses, but I can't figure this one out. The font seems bold, but I've seen similar examples on here. Would you help me out? (The 'Swiss Made' is underneath the crystal, so not visible in my photos). Thank you in advance!

I'll wait for others to weigh in, but I can't recall ever seeing a pinstripe dial that looks exactly like this. This reminds me more of the modern AT vertical "teak" striped dials. In any event, the horizontal crosshair line is very dark/bold which makes me suspect a redial. I do like the alpha hands though!

Thanks for weighing in. I've actually found a similar dial here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/ome...tify-this-texture-unseen-before-to-me.141736/

The font on the watch in the link is definitely not as bold though.

I think the dial looks fine. The embossed figures almost always loose their crispness when this type of dial is refinished and these still have their edge.

My pause is that the hands look yellow and the figures look pink...could just be the lighting.

I also suspect a redial although not 100%sure. The difference in quality/fineness of the print between your version and the other one is marked. Additionally is the 33 minute "tick" missing?

Where is 33 minute tick hiding?

Thanks for your opinion. That's exactly my conundrum. It looks very, very crisp, but it's definitely not as fine as the other example. You're right about the hands by the way, but I did research that and this came up: https://omegaforums.net/threads/difference-on-golden-hands-against-indices.128436/ Given that all the hands are the correct type, i tend to think they're ok, but I could be wrong of course.

Thanks for that! I agree re: the fineness of the print, hence my doubts. On the other hand I came across this: https://omegaforums.net/threads/14713-new-catch.134588/

The watch in the link is the same reference and seems to feature the same bold font:

The missing 33 tick is well spotted. There's some patina on the dial in that spot, and a small smudge, so I suspect it's been erased when someone tried to clean some dirt from the dial.
