2017 - What non-Omega watch did you buy for under $500?

I picked up this Russian Vostok Amphibia dive watch (same one Bill Murray wore in "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou") plus a Spectre styled NATO band for it totaling well under $100 including shipping to the states from Russia.
It's been a fun little piece so far.

I bought this for $40 cdn at an antique auction in a small town in Canada. With a service, strap and crown I'm into it for $250 cdn. Birk's is Canada's version of Tiffany 's. I like the wild patina on the dial.

Sorry for the photo quality. The top is labelled Birk's Challenger. Here is a pic of the 17J movement.

Well I took a jump on a possible project watch but at $385 even if I need an entire new movement I can be into it for $650 for a nice vintage piece.

Already have a lead on a new movement if I need it.

Onto the photos!

This one recently... a US- issued Hamilton GG-W-113, late 80's, and no, it's not quartz.

[warning: batteries inside] my first perpetual calendar was less than $500.

A grungy 1958 Tissot Nuevo Horizonte with a loose dial marker, fished for $50 out of a particularly swampy section of the 'Bay. No movement pictures. Poorly lit, blurry photos as seen below. Advertised as "wristwatch mechanical working well. for condition see pictures." No communication from the seller at all. Arrived from the other side of the world in an envelope, sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard.

And yet...this model is hard to find, and harder still to find in unmolested condition. Original crown. Maybe rose gold case? I bet it'll clean up nicely. 😀

Picked up this 1969 Bulova Sea King for $50 on the bay. Threw on an $18 Hadley Roma band and I have a fun little $68 watch from the Sixties

Couple that are close only alphabetically

Bucherer 955015 came in very good condition just under the $500 mark

Valjoux 7733 running spot on and all chrono functions work well

Bulova Surf King cost about 1/10th as much

Couple interesting aspects of the dial are the deco 12 and sub seconds

Case is well worn but all steel

Bulova 11AF chugs away despite needing a service

They do have one other thing in common, each needs a new crystal

How do keep finding such amazing stuff?

Edit- I initially was tempted to say DIBs but it seems I've been dibsing more than I can chew lately....

Pretty impressive. All right, dibs on this one. I hope you'll hold on to it for a bit though, could not follow through right away.

This thread has been quietly slumbering...

Well, Venus 170 chrono from my watchmaker for $250AUD. Runs well enough 😀
