I like this thread, as it always gives me hope that there are lovely vintage pieces still to be had at prices that ordinary Joes and Janes can afford. I had a couple of happy finds in this category, but the best came right at the end, one of the early-model AS 1701-powered Rotary Aquaplunges, with the bezel in good condition, original crown, original crystal (which I will either polish or replace), and running strong. It's even a "devil diver," of sorts 😉

Always a keen eye for quality, good sir. That Certina is a beauty!
I think I bought it for around EUR 90 or 100. I thought it would make a good christmas present but in the end I kept it. Everybody already have received one or two watches from me for christmas... : )

I hadn’t realised how busy I’d been (and I’m not counting the over $500s).

The Electronic Connie and the Ultra Chron were both great value from OF members for $400 or less and the other three (I double dipped the Hamiltons) were all eBay and well under $200 each.

I’ll play

And just to clarify….we got it for under $500, that’s not including what we have into it- right? Because then I will need to remove a few.

That Citizen🥰🥰

I picked up a couple of these 1970s Challenge Divers last year, they are actually very nice to wear and I think they're under-rated.

I’ve often wondered why Seiko gets all the love for Japanese divers but citizen seems like the red-headed step child.

In part, I think it's because Citizen focused much more on the Japanese market.

I’ve kind of thought along the parity of Rolex and Omega- Seiko gets all the fanfare and glory while citizen just chugs along continuing to innovate and push the envelope of the technology and design

Several with watch handy friend so will have to post when those return.
And the lord Elgin is a time capsule- that’s the original strap- it had never been off the watch when I got it. I will eventually post about that one.
