I got me a Seiko Sarb033 with the black dial well under $500.
I love the case finishing on the case. The minute and second hand reach the markers , so. Coooool!
Looking forward to adding some more JDM watches to the collection

Thank you! I've a bunch of what I think are pretty nice gallet chronographs.
If I were looking to spend 500 or less on a watch in 2017, I'd probably go with Seiko or perhaps a Bucherer chronometer (for 500, you could get 3 or 4 nice chronometres).
I feel like the best value watch out there right now is the Seiko Fifty-Five Fathoms. I was peeking the 55's and you can get a minty one for 175 - 225. That's a lot of watch for 2 bills...

Just a short while ago I got this Seiko Kinetic Divers for 拢8.00 on a car boot sale.
Having not been too well this cheered me up.
I had a kidney stone and it's gone now, I asked the surgeon when he took it out could I take it home to hit it with a big hammer, first surgeon I have seen laughing!!
I just love the watch and the surgeon!!
My bargain for this year hopefully with more to come.

Sorry about your kidney stone - my friend is a urologist and he says it's objectively one of the worst pains.
WRT to that Seiko...SCORE!!!! I can see how that cheered you up
Correct me if I wrong but I believe that Seiko is worth almost 10x that amount. Watch collecting has become such organized singularity that it's practically impossible to pull off a deal like that anymore.

Can anyone offer an opinion about the movement. Many Valjoux movements have a majority of parts from stamped steel. This movement has some beautiful machine work. Would it be rarer?

路I also bought this Seiko Five- for less than 拢140, as a holiday watch. Without seeing the branding a few friends have seen it and thought I'd made a very significant new Swiss purchase! Looks great on leather or rubber and sunburst blue dial is beautiful.
