What did I buy for under 50 US ?

I have no idea until the postman arrives ! But maybe a yacht-timer, and maybe that's the BWC logo ? Any ideas. All the other stuff in the lot is probably worth what I paid anyway, so could end up getting this one for free...

A 34mm Clebar in near mint condition, a serviced ETA 2472 (+4 to +6 seconds per day, 278* amplitude and a 0.5ms beat error on my timegrapher) with a nice ostrich leg band for $112 delivered on January 3.
DIBS?! What a stunning dial with killer index!

Well the box arrived and my wife just opened it up and sent me a picture.

Never heard of BME before but could find a couple of example with Google. They seem to generally use the Valjoux 7733 but I'll open it up to see tonight. It was one of 60 watches in the same lot so maybe some other interesting bits in there...

Seiko Bellmatic

It's all about the Bell-Matics at the moment, isn't it? 馃槑

I'm guessing it's a Landeron of some sort - looks great with that perfect lollipop 馃憤

Probably shouldn't post the same watch three times, but can't edit and expand my previous posts. Managed to have a good look at the BME this evening, and as a huge stroke of luck it actually runs, although the lever for the lower chrono pusher is not fixed and there is a bit of its pivot floating around under the balance wheel. Movement is a Valjoux 7733 and seems to be in great condition apart from the lever problem.

And amongst the other bits there was also a dinky ladies watch with a 14k gold case that pays for the whole lot 馃榾

Definitely under $500. Longines Admiral - face is deteriating a bit, and bezel is worn, but I like the size and weight. Opening it up to do one final authenticity check before I add it to the rotation.

This is one of my favorites purchased for 150 dollars. It was supposedly in pristine running condition and just serviced. However, it appeared not to have been serviced in 20 years and there was sludge in the oil wells. I took on the project and attempted to revive it. However, the cannon pinion, center arbor, hands, and dial were all bent and no amount of manipulation could prevent the hands from touching each other or the dial. I tried to replace some parts which were supposedly correct for the movement but they wouldn't fit. Maybe someday I'll take it to somebody more skilled than me.

So, watch collecting is my hobby much as it is for all of you but I try to collect watches without spending money. The MO is to go buy things, more things than I want, sell some of them and keep others. The idea is to break even and keep something from the day or, better still, make a profit for the Future Watch Fund.

I've just finished sorting through all the things I've bought today and put aside the two things that are for me. Pickings were silm but ... today, I got my first hummer! (Stop giggling at the back!) I also picked up a half sovereign ... just for a rainy day. Break even money-wise, but I get to keep these:

The Bulova would have cost me 拢54.90.

Good values all day with Wittnauer. This one with a Seiko movement.
