Would an Omega Boutique charge for a pressure test?
I "used" them several times, I never paid a cent for....except buying a watch from them馃槜

Bond Seamaster 300M in my view ... I also have a Rolex Submariner and I find myself putting on the Seamaster most mornings. When I wear it, the Muse of Horology sings to me ... Oddly enough, although I deeply respect the history and heritage of the Moonwatch, it just doesn't give me that shiver down my spine. The Seamaster Diver does. And I wear it in the shower and whatever else I'm doing - I'll die long before my watch will!

I just went with both. And I love each of them.

Here's my two cents:

The Speedmaster with the 1861 movement has a few perks.

1) The 861/1861 is one of the most tested and evaluated movements in the world, so that's pretty cool. There's a reason it was chosen as the one and only chronograph to be issued to travel to motherfricken' space by NASA.

2) The Speedmaster has a phenomenal history that is almost unparalleled. There are only a couple of watches with a history equally as cool or as impressive as the Speedy.

3) It is a beautiful watch. The Speedy goes well with literally any outfit, with any strap, and at any situation.

The SMP is an awesome watch, but if you're looking to start a collection OR you're looking for a piece to wear forever, go with the Speedy as your first bet.

A tough call, try them both on and see how they feel but when I first strapped this to my wrist I got the feeling of, Oh it is all over now, I am done with collecting because this is as good as it gets and I'm not the sort of person who wants a few variations of the same watch.

I dunno what you guys fiddle with your watches馃槤

If it麓s marked 300m/1000ft I don麓t take it off when I麓m at our sommer place on the west coast of Finland. This means sauna, swimming, boating, fishing what ever... I change to Seiko diver when I work on something like wood chopping, servicing something etc.

And yeap, SMPcc.........

And yeah, really need to ditch this old Lumia end get a new phone with a decent camera....

I would say "get both!" but if the choice is only for 1..

I've had both the Blue "Bond" SMP as well as the 3570.50 and 3592.50 Moonwatch as daily drivers. IMO it really depends on how you want to use it.

If you're looking to be "dressy", the Blue Bond is a better choice. Bezel will be good against dings. Speedy is less in-your-face, but easier to live with in a watch rotation, esp since you just wind, set the time and go. Speedy is more casual, but unfortunately the sharp bezel is prone to dings.

If you want a less dressy SMP, my suggestion is get an "Electric Blue" SMP 2255.80, this is because the bracelet is not the fancy 9-link on the "Bond" which dresses down the watch a lot, even factoring in the silver bezel and blingy dial.

Right now my daily driver is 45.5mm Planet Ocean on a strap. Looks good, but I miss the confidence of knowing I have a full power reserve by winding. Looking to getting a Railmaster XXL hand winding.. if I can find one!

For me the choice was Speedmaster Pro and I had to go vintage vs new. It's just a clean, classic watch that has a ton of history associated with it.

I'm still drawn to the Seamaster Planet Ocean and would love to have a 2201.50. Though I may go with the new Seamaster 300 if I decide to pull the trigger on a new watch. The Seamaster Pro (scalloped bezel) doesn't do anything for me - it's just not my style.

The Speedmaster is sharp, but generally I don't like chronographs. It makes the dial look too busy. Plus I can't afford a Speedmaster. I must have 6 or 7 Seamasters. I prefer a minimalist look. Though I can appreciate the detail in printing of a chronograph dial.

Great advice everybody. Thank you very much. I will certainly report back with on which one I ended up getting.

If you go into details the Seamaster's dial is wonderfully executed. Those hour marks and the frame around the date window, the metal Omega sign and writing on the "teak deck" dial are perfectly executed 3D items, not just printed on the dial.

If you forget about the space history story behind the Speedmaster what remains is an average chronograph like a dozen of the same mould. For me the Seamaster every day.

My advice.... wear what you like and like what you wear. That is all.
