According to the list, your Constellation would take a 1172 w/ 551 endlinks. If you like that bracelet.

Just realized I have another 165.009 with stick hands (TBH, I prefer the Dauphine). The dial is no-lume with vertical brushing. Many of the references had a bunch of variations. This is on a 1036 BOR.

Thanks for the input. I am aware that after such a long time the chronometer rating might not mean much but I like the idea that the watch, at least at the production time, has been submitted to those tests and passed them.
Regarding taking time, I did that😀 last two months my brain is watches: I watch watches, read about watches, talk about watches - waiting for them to visit me in my dreams. Seriously though, what you described has happened already, I came a long way with choosing THE watch... And honestly, as we speak and as I listed all my requirements, then I looked at the little Connie on my wrist, I thought "ain't you the one?". I will most probably just stick to my initial choice, keep it, enjoy it and be happy about how small it is and how well it fits under sleeve : )

Looks like you made your choice- watch looks good, enjoy and welcome to OF. Please be aware that love for your first vintage watch is a lot like high school romance- its great until something better comes along.......

Chronometers start with 168…
Non-date chronometers start with 167.

Ref. 167.005

Ref. 167.0021

Although there are some spots on the dial, of the two watches shown by the OP, I like this one much better. The other watch looks to have been harshly polished.

Hope this helps,

Any time someone’s asks for suggestions for a vintage no date seamaster I immediately think of a 165.010.

Yeah, I posted one of those on the previous page, but it has dauphine hands. They do exist with stick hands, although I've never handled one.

I think it looks really good on your wrist. Don't look further. A textured brown strap will complement it well, adding some color and texture to the mostly grey watch.

@jankoxxx is a resident strap maker and very good at it. Here's my 168.022 with a strap from him.

Beautiful combo! I have found a local craftsman but will keep in mind your recommendation. Cheers!

Looks awesome! Did it actually happen that same reference no would have different hands? I was aware of different dial finishes but not hands

I think I already showed two 165.009 with different hands. Here they are together.

Thanks for posting! I really like the simplicity of the straight hands. Also seeing them side by side I got to know that I prefer the shiny dial - which made me again appreciate my Connie! Thanks! : )

They have basically the same finish in different directions. Both are brushed, neither is glossy. One is vertically brushed and the other is radially brushed (sunburst). The latter is more common.

A flat forest green strap, with same color stitch, would do wonders to liven up the cold silverish tone of the watch.
Even a burgundy, navy blue or olive green would work.
Brown or honey will clash IMHO.
