No downside as long as you keep your old one!

That's ridiculous that you have to "pay" to keep your old one. I would just buy a new one and put it on yourself....takes less than 60 seconds to do.

looks incredible! I would leave as is but if you keep the original and prefer a more "pristine" look then do as you like, it's your watch 馃槈

That watch is so nice, I think you should keep it just as it is. To my mind it is a bit like putting fancy 21st C wheels on an old MG. Sure it will look bright and shiny, but just won't really fit with the whole thing.

I love the idea of Rolex charging you to keep the old insert. Could be a nice little earner for them to keep it...

Please be aware that many Rolex GMT aficionados would pay a handsome price for that bezel. In the vintage market brand new is often worth a lot less than gracefully aged. In the final analysis, as others have already noted, it's your watch and you get to choose how it looks.

Here's my 16750 which I love but am thinking of replacing the Pepsi bezel for a new one. Rolex have said they are happy to do this and that I can keep the existing one (for a small surcharge). I just want to have a bezel which "pops" more than this one. I'm a bit of a newby and am wondering if the knowledgeable members of this forum would consider whether there is a downside to doing this?
No downside as long as you keep the original. Inthink they chare 30 or 40 bucks more if you keep it.

With a little practice you can learn to change it yourself as well if you ever feel like it.

You have a very nice Mk 2 16750 there, I would keep it as is personally but if you want to change it please don't let Rolex keep the original bezel. You could sell it for decent money if you so choose.

The insert looks like a blueback based on the font (would need to confirm). If that's the case, it's not worth as much as a redback which are more desirable.

The replacement insert for that watch is relatively cheap from Rolex or you can source it from the various forums as well.

The beauty of these watches is their versatility and the endless options

Thanks everyone, your comments are much appreciated and I've decided to keep it as it is. I have to admit I was in two minds, hence the post. Meanwhile I'll have another look at how to change one myself as it would be good to have different bezel options. I did have a look on you tube previously and it scared me off!

My offer on the fuchsia was declined :/
I had eyed this one which looks great. But I'm unsure if the dial is correct, 3.2m serial dating it to 1971. Should have a mark2 dial I guess. Is this dial a service tritium, or a later dial on a 1971 watch ? Thanks!!

That does not look like a 1675 Mark 2 dial. The Mark 2 has a flat base on the coronet.

Also, it appears the top left lug is thinner than the others.

I'm also in the market for a GMT...(made the school boy error of trying on a batman at an AD last week 馃え) having trouble deciding between the 1675, 16750 or perhaps a more modern 16710... noticed this local 1675 on TRF, what's the general expert opinion on this piece? Worth the asking?

wow, this is horrendous. good luck to the seller with that price lol.

You are correct @Overgrower
Not a Mk2 dial.
That is a service tritium dial on the watch..
Thanks!
When I first looked at it I found it pretty. Then I started researching, and it looked like a service tritium dial. Had to ask. Thanks guys!
The search continues...

Hi!
I have only owned a 1675, but I can tell you that I like it a lot!

I do think about flipping to a blue Snowflake though... Mostly because the 1675s are quite expensive and I am a bit scared of using it...
