hey guys, so after a long search, i finally settled on a one owner 16750, all original except for the bezel/insert. see attached pic. the marks you see on the dial are from scratches on the crystal.
ultimately, i decided i wanted a 16750 due to the quick set feature. i also decided i wanted one on an original jubilee bracelet. that's not to say i won't strive for a 1675 in the future. 馃槈
i think i got a good example for the price (sub $8). a couple non-ideal things is there seems to be some oil staining around the center post. also, there is some stretch to the jubilee bracelet. i do really like the matching of the patina of the hour markers and hands, which i believe are original. as i've learned with vintage watches, you can't have it all, especially if you have a budget.
the watch is with la watchworks now for some servicing. will endeavor to post new pics once i get it back. cheers to everyone for your input and help. 馃憤
Yes, Sir!
You have an appropriate GMT Jub, again congratulations on the purchase.
After the service, it should bring you many years of healthy wearing!
Excellent choice and Great watch, wear it in the best of health!
When you get it back, better pics to appreciate!
Lovely watch and a great choice! I also love the 16750 for the quickset date and high beat movement. I agree with you that budget conscious buyers today have to choose what's most important to them and most likely can't get that grail full set in immaculate condition. But I think LA Watchworks will send it back to you looking great for many years to come. Did you ask them to try to clean the dial at all or just leave it alone?

Thank you. Happy to join the club. 馃榾
Indeed I did talk to Beau about it and he recommended to just let it be given the delicate nature of matte dials and anything that would take away the oil might also take away the paint. Not a risk I'd want to take.
Good call then to leave it alone, certainly don't want to risk damaging the dial at all. Now that you have the GMT I think you'll find it will be difficult to impossible for any of your other watches to get any wrist time.
Two tone / 'bi-metal' ...You either love it, or you don't - as a child of the 80's I am a fan, and it appears to be 'back' featuring in many new releases this year. You can pick one of these up for around $2k less than the same watch in all steel ... here is my 16753
Value of 5 digit Rolex have been seeing a very nice jump lately.
That said, 1675 is the safer bet.
With any vintage, it comes down to condition, condition, condition. If you have the scratch to afford a good condition 1675, that would be my choice, but 16750 might be the better call if that's a better budgetary fit.
