I am hugely appreciative of the work @dsio has been putting into this thread of late. Not pulled the trigger on any but I think it is a wonderful service to the forums and Omega collecting community. It sparks discussion and provides good examples for those people who are thinking of buying their first vintage.

Maybe a new thread for entry level collectors (like me) to see potential low cost opportunities?

I think that really does more belong here, special / rare / particularly high end pieces have always deserved their own threads so they can be indexed and used for research / reference at a later date and good deals on higher end pieces are fine here as well. There is a cheap watches thread ( https://omegaforums.net/threads/rec...y-other-auctions.113139/page-261#post-1834668) too but its focused more on other brands than Omega just because the price point tends to be under $200 and often under $100.

Just spotted this Constellation on Ebay (I assume 14902 model). Time is running out quickly on this so doubt we'll get any photographs of the movement and caseback before it ends (2hrs 30mins). The lugs look over-polished but there may be some OF members out that can over look this.

Current bid at £520.00

Na its all good mate, I’d just been focusing more on entry level stuff that new members buying their first Omega may be interested in rather than higher end big ticket items which tend to be identified and watch listed by dozens as soon as they appear, I had a few people pick up the Geneves, DeVilles and C-Cases I’d mentioned and PM me about them as they arrived and were cleaned up to wear so that sort of made me want to focus on that side a bit more.

Yea I get what you’re saying, I’ve had some good buys out of Israel in the past and I checked the sellers feedback out and it wasn’t terrible, the nice thing with a Seamaster 562 at a cheapish price is you can take it in steps and get the watch, maybe wear it on a couple of occasions while saving up for the service, then after service have a pretty nice solid piece and while its not crazy low, the last few 166.002/166.003 references went for a fair bit more and this one (which is nicer for sure) is already above that with over a day left to bid:

Whoever got this at 751 did well, that’s a nice pickup

I got it. Just barely. My winning bid was $.03 more than the second place bid.

Ahh the old round-your-highest-bid-up-to-an-odd-number-of-cents trick!
A favourite!

Interesting that I’m getting all the congrats on the 166.003. I also bought this one and I’m actually really looking forward to its arrival. Very interesting dial and what looks like a Portuguese customs stamp on the top left lug.

Okay, I may be breaking thread protocols here, this isnt on eBay, but I didnt want to start a new thread for this.

There is what looks like a fairly priced 145.012-67 over on RolexForums if you are looking for a decent value piece. This isnt exactly a recommendation to buy more of a "heads-up" as I would want better pictures. I would be asking for them myself if I hadnt bought 2 Speedies in 2 weeks so thought I would bring to your attention.

Not perfect; has a bit of lume loss to dial and hands, plus paint loss to hands, might be a service chrono hand or might just be the awful bright lighting the seller used. Looks a bit polished but not too badly based on the caseback. On the plus side the DON is pretty clean, proper flat foot crown, and it has a 1039/516 bracelet. At an asking of $7550 (with offers taken) that is basically pricing the head at "Fair" (SP101 prices) plus the value of the 1039/516. Not a bargain exactly, but not a bad price IMO compared to others offered lately. No association with the seller, I was just doing my daily look and saw this one.

22 hours left on this nice one out of the UK

Apologies if my question is against the spirit of this thread - what would be a "good" price for a watch like this in this condition?

It’s not an exact science.

You check the photos and seller's remarks and search on line for comparable models, You check sold listings on eBay and elsewhere.

You assess the condition.

You factor in tax, postage and a possible service at some stage. You balance how much you like it with what you want to spend.

It’s currently in the ballpark (never sure if that’s one or two words).

Thanks! Been checking this forum and ebay past listings but getting confused as to why some sell for a lot more than others (guessing certain features are just more prized by collectors...)

1. Desirability or collectibility of reference/model.
2. Condition.
3. Condition.
