I guess the question is what do you think the upper limit should be for cheap / value watches as there are a lot of entry level Omegas like Geneve and Cosmics in the $250-350 range but that might be a bit much
It’s relative though isn’t it?
If someone is selling is selling a genuine Daytona in good nick for $5k (hell, at that price even in rubbish condition) it’s still good value. Ditto a Navitimer, 50th anniversary Moonwatch or Royal Oak.
But generally speaking, I agree. there’s still some untapped areas I think. Several months back a contributor coughed up a few links and some information on compressor watches. Not my thing but there’s a niche which seems under explored here, possibly through just lack of knowledge

I think this thread was rather organic in that we were looking at fun and undervalued watches that could be had for under $500. The ones that could be had for the price of a nice dinner out were the ones that brought the most joy. A few member who have exquisite taste posted watches that were in the $1k range and those were not only welcome, but purchased by a few here. So the scale does slide a bit. But I think the bargain Ed White’s at $5k are a bit out of the realm of this particular thread.

I’ve always enjoyed the cheaper options. Of my last 4 purchases this year, three have been $180 or less.

And the diamond in the rough is always a fan favorite. Being able to see through shitty pictures, scratched up crystals and minimalist descriptions is a skill worth teaching.

Let’s see you say that when you have one in your hand at a garage sale for $40 😉

Sold! Did you buy the question mark?😁

The question mark is the best part. I didn't buy it, but I seriously considered it. This is a case where the inscription is definitely a plus. Think about all the fun you could have making up back stories for this watch.
