Question About the Originality of my Omega Seamaster300

Hey everyone,
Have a Omega Seamaster300 here, just generally confused about whether this is an original Omega or one put together by Watch Co. Have spent some time browsing through these threads, still was not able to confirm. It seems as though I have a service bezel along with a screw down crown. The watch has a 552 movement, along with 165.024 inscribed on the caseback. Pictures are attached as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a movement # of 19mil, it dates the movement to 62(ish) which doesn't fit the era of this case. ?
No "T-SWISS MADE-T " on the dial and odd looking bezel with no lume at a glance. I'd be interested to know if there's any lume on that bezel. ?

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!
You are looking for a very special watch, and the one you have showed here has a lot that is not correct....

Check out this lovely website:
https://www.omegaseamaster300.com/

Read it, and study the pictures, try and compare with the one that you have posted.
And please come back with your thoughts?
This might take some time, but it will be very interesting for you, and hopefully you will learn some more?

Hans that website is useful, but I wouldn’t be quite so unconditionally effusive since its author is a character who is banned from this forum. And I’m sure you’ll agree it takes a lot to get banned from here. As such I wouldn’t treat it with the same reverence I would it’s Speedmaster equivalent since there may be an element of self serving present there.

To the OP, if you haven’t worked it out yet, there are many things that don’t add up with your watch, some of the parts are not original. And not service parts either but the product is a far east faker. As above, the movement is legit Omega but with that serial was never seen in that model.

Thanks Dave for the info, I have read before about the authors doing....
The website itself is nice to read, and use as referencepoints, and I have a hard time finding others that are so complete.
But the final judgement is of course on ourself!
Study, read, compare, read again....and hopefully not get burned...😉😬

Cheers Mate!

I’ve got to say I’m not seeing any issues with fake parts on this one. It does look like a franken; original vintage case
Service dial, hands and bezel
Mid-matched movement that may not have started life in a sm300.

Well you know these more than me so that is good news for the OP. I found the dial and case suspect but if the OP studies up on the tells he should be able to come to a sound conclusion.

Since it was before my time here and I chatted with t_solo_t a lot of times without noticing any "problems", can someone enlighten me what the problem was back then? Thanks!

Everyone’s (rightly) on high alert with these at the minute as it seems there are more fakes than genuine one’s popping up for sale.
That coupled with the fact that new generation fakes seem to be coming out fairly frequently means it’s a bloody minefield buying one at the minute. Same with the SM120’s.

I do think this one has issues but all the parts are Omega.

Looks like laser printed. Not stamped. Would love to see the other side.

I have noticed some inconsistencies on there too. And he never replied to several emails.

Re this post: I'd like to ask the OP if there is any lume in/on that bezel?. The one photo shown of it looks like there is no lume whatsoever & pure white . I was with the understanding that service bezels had full lume. ?

Not sure if we will see this one again.

I was thinking the same. But it looks like they haven't logged in since the post was up.

The bezel does have full lume after being checked with a black light.
