·Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum and hoping to learn from the community here.
I recently purchased an Omega Seamaster 166.009 from a private seller who seemed reliable and assured me that the watch was original and had not been refinished. While it initially appeared to be in good condition, closer inspection has revealed some inconsistencies that make me question its originality. I didn’t open the back of the watch before purchasing, which might have provided more clarity, but I trusted the seller’s description at the time.
The watch looked great, and I wanted to believe I’d found a hidden gem. Now, I’m starting to think I might have found a well-hidden lesson instead 🤦🏻♂️
Here’s what I’ve observed:
Based on the attached photos and my description, does this watch appear fully original, or are these inconsistencies signs of refinishing or other modifications?
I’d be grateful for any insights you can share.
Thank you!

Here’s what I’ve observed:
- Several hour markers (around 4, 5, 6, and 7 o’clock) appear slightly misaligned with the printed minute track.
- After the 1-hour marker, the minute track itself seems uneven, especially in the lower half of the dial.
