Haven’t been able to get in touch with Rob…anyone else over there recommended? I think I had spoken with a Jenna or something at one point?

I've left several messages via email (I got my previous SMP from Topper) but have yet to hear back. Must be busy over that-aways.

One other thing to remember when dealing with an AD like Topper is they like trade-ins. When I got my new Speedy I traded in my 2234.50 that I never wear and got $700 more than I paid for it in trade in value. There is more negotiating available that way, just know what you want to pay at the end. Let them know you don’t care how they get to the final price, doesn’t matter % between discount and trade in value, just get there. Gives them the freedom to lower discount, give higher trade in or vice versa depending on what is important to them that day.

Won’t always work but it’s a better way to negotiate when you have the opportunity. Especially this time of year when dealers like a high level of pre-owned inventory in stock for the holidays.

UK here, got just over 5% for a 2021 Speedy Hesalite on Thursday.

Did ask for 10% but they couldn't do it.

Update: Just spoke to Topper and was offered a nice discount of 15% on the new speedy and so I purchased from them. They were the first retailer I reached out to (was planning on going grey but there were no great deals to be had on LNIB) and based on everyone's comments, I thought better grab this discount ASAP. The salesperson told me that she can confirm a price increase on certain models but she did NOT think the new Speedmaster was being increased. Of course, she doesn't know for sure. Looking forward to my first real speedy experience!

Do they charge sales tax?

Thank you @AviF !!!

I really appreciate the info. I am glad I was able to catch this info, which is saving me some money. I've reached out to Jay at Topper and she is ordering me a new AT at 15% off. Since I live out of the State, no tax. Thanks again as this was the best deal I could find!

So, that’s a 25% discount including no taxes?

You legally owe the sales tax on your purchase in your home state. 8.125% of the purchase price. Your state's web site will have the relevant form to pay the tax.

All, I got an exact 18.1% discount on a new Seamaster Pro 300 in black on a bracelet from an out of state jeweler (Topper) this Friday. I even had them compare there two in stock models to check for bezel alignment and lume splash on the dial.

Thank you Joe

All in all a great purchase experience, I called, asked for best OTD price and was given it within 5 seconds. Free shipping too.

Yes, technically you do. But the state has no way of knowing you bought it unless the seller is audited.

We'll start seeing discounts. Used prices are fluctuating a bit.

Wow, wish I’d known about this, you got yourself a great deal. I just bought a BNIB Seamaster 300m on eBay for $4600 thinking I’d done pretty well (of course had to pay fees and a sales tax). Local ADs I spoke with were not doing more than a 5% discount here just a month ago!

Is the $4.6K inclusive of taxes and fees? Good deal if so.

I got 16.1% off MSRP on a SMP 300 on a bracelet, no tax and free shipping. Just asked what their best price was and they told me.

Easy as pie.

Experiences like that make me an AD customer for Life. Ohh and the local AD who implied I was buying a counterfeit, go pound sand and enjoy not getting my money

I also highly recommend Rob and Kit at Toppers. Have purchased my 3861 and Glashutte SeaQ from them in the past 2 years. Always a pleasure to visit, with highly professional and welcoming staff who are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the horology.

It's a very cozy store layout though. Some days, they are so packed, that there's hardly any standing room. For those who have trouble getting through on the phone: please know you're not being neglected. They are just so, so incredibly busy because of their exceptional customer service for in-store clients!

Gone are the days when I first got into watch-collecting back in the mid-2000's, when you could pick up any Omega for 30 - 35% off. Some models even at 40% or more, especially precious metal ones. How I regret not buying that original Snoopy that sat unloved in a display counter, for years, at my local A.D. for in San Diego at the time, which has since lost their A.D. status.
