Toppers is top notch! Rob may get the glory, but every sales associate in that place knows and loves watches! No discounts on GS though!

I worked with Jay (female BTW).

If any of you are military check out the Omega selection on shopmyexchange, they are an AD and prices are discounted 15% on average (and no tax!).
Just bought a PO for 15% off BO prices.

Don't wait too long though, there's another rumor going around that MSRP is going to go up (not sure it it's for all models) come 1st Dec.

It's the perfect time to buy the new speedy in my opinion, since it only came out for a year and prices are bound to increase, as compared to other models which appear somewhat expensive brand new because they could be had for so much cheaper a couple of years back.
Ugh here we go again

Even for less popular models like the Globemaster etc, 30% of $6,000 is better than 30% of $6,300 three months later. Just my 0.02.
The GM won't be produced anymore and Omegas stock is still full with them. There won't be any price increase for the GM anymore.

All, it seems prices for ADs are going up a bit to kneecap discounting even more.

Do you ask for a discount because of the gratification you get knowing your got a discount or because you don't have the perceived value in the Omega watch you are purchasing to pay the retail price ?
I just bought a new Speedmaster Moonwatch and I asked if the store was willing to offer a discount and it was a very quick "No". And, to be honest I see the value in my new Omega and was OK paying the $6,300 MSRP but had to ask.

I am about to find out. I plan on purchasing a 300M soon from an AD that gave me a good discount about 18 months ago.

I never followed up with this because unfortunately my AD had their AD status revoked from Omega.

I ask for a discount because I know I can, so why not. I'm also not bothered by all discounts being gone, as long as grey market discounts dry up too.

It's simple economics of not paying more for something that can be had for a lesser price.

I personally buy Omegas pre-owned, as the "value" of buying them new isn't worth the incremental $1-3k for me. I'd rather have multiple pre-owned watches than a single new one. I do have a budget, after all.

I do understand that for some collectors, buying new is worth the premium.

Damn, is this confirmed that GM won't be produced anymore? Have a link to this news?

I'm fascinated by this topic---like on a basic psychological level. Because it's all about emotion. Brand premium is emotional: those of us who will buy a new Omega watch are spending stupid money on something whose intrinsic value isn't even close to its cost, and generally speaking (hyped up limited editions notwithstanding) most of them will plummet in value as soon as they leave the store. But the premium is about prestige---the luxury of owning something that impresses us and others, and (in some cases) is associated with historic events. But asking about a discount is also emotional: not wanting to feel like we're being taken advantage of---or as someone else said, not wanting to pay more for something than we can get it for elsewhere. These two ideas---brand premium and discount-seeking---aren't exactly contradictory, but they definitely point in opposing directions. I'm totally susceptible to both of them myself, and always seek a discount. It would seem foolish not to. But, then, spending $$$$ on something that costs $ to make and that has been technologically obsolete since the mid 20th century is foolish to begin with...

I do not think a new Omega watch is worth it. Not by a long shot. Neither is a Rolex or a Patek or a Corvette or a gold bar... And yet here we are. And I'll be damned if I'm going to pay more for mine than some other guy did down the street.

I only buy quality stuff as want it to last. That’s goes across the board and not just on luxury items.

I get many years use out of most things, so it works out much the same as buying multiple cheaper versions.

The real beauty is when you get a premium item within the realms of a cheaper counterpart by purchasing at the right time and striking the right deal.

It’s part of the enjoyment of any purchase for me. The art is in striking the right price that all parties are content with. You get to save a bit whilst the seller also makes a reasonable profit too. All very polite and amicable.

Do you mean discontinued altogether, or that production will be halted for now?

With rumours of price increase circulating (and I have little resaon to doubt them since everything is going up in price), I think its better to purchase now than later especially popular models like the SMP Diver or the Speedmaster.

Even for less popular models like the Globemaster etc, 30% of $6,000 is better than 30% of $6,300 three months later. Just my 0.02.
Long time lurker, first time poster.

I got an email directly from the AD I bought my Seamaster saying that as of 1st December ‘some’ Seamasters will be going up 5.56%. So a good time to buy now if you’re thinking of taking the plunge.

My Swiss AD according to Swiss production site... (can't confirm it as a proof). Omega seems to reorganize their portfolio next year and therefore won't produce the GM any further. However there are quite a few on stock...

I highly recommend Topper as well. Ended up getting the PO with a similar type of discount.

Update: Just spoke to Topper and was offered a nice discount of 15% on the new speedy and so I purchased from them. They were the first retailer I reached out to (was planning on going grey but there were no great deals to be had on LNIB) and based on everyone's comments, I thought better grab this discount ASAP. The salesperson told me that she can confirm a price increase on certain models but she did NOT think the new Speedmaster was being increased. Of course, she doesn't know for sure. Looking forward to my first real speedy experience!
