Don't try and talk me out of it. I like it.

The only change I have loved to make in the original is that I changed the bracelet buckle to adjustable one. It's the most amazing chage that has made my Moonwatch the most comfortable 24*7 all seasons daily watch.

Not an issue, as I have a half-dozen others from the last 5 years, as well as a true vintage. The #STs, Tintin, 60th, etc. are the ones I really would not touch. But the run-of-the mill circa 2015 Speedy? It makes me feel a bit dead inside now. It was okay when I first got it, but over the last few years it has ceased to feel special.

Indeed. Even the FOIS... They look to me like a mass produced copy of the originals, which were also mass produced. I would not have much problem with somebody changing hands or dial on these.

Also, the pure white lume doesn't look so good, a bit harsh imho. The Seiko lume I much prefer, somewhat off white.

Regarding the lume colour:
I bought one of these Speedmasters new in 1997 so, one of the last tritium watches. A couple of years later, I bought my brother one and they had moved to Superluminova. I had both together at the same time and didn't realise the lume material had changed but, I did ask why my brother's watch had stark bright lume. Of course, it's a limited sample and perhaps my tritium dial had aged in a few years but, I doubt that. For me, the tritium always had a tint.

James does brilliant work and I use him for customer watches that are past the point of saving:

As your dial is SL, which is very sticky, I suspect he will add the new lume on top of the existing and this means that it might be possible to reverse this in the future without a significant impact to the dial - I have never tried this, though. The hands will have the lume replaced but they could be redone with SL lume in the future if it was called for.

Good luck, Chris

Hmmm! I´m really curious to see the results, interesting idea for sure.

I have my eyes set for ´96 Moonwatch with cal. 1861, but still with tritium hands... But it is quite difficult to get one of those.

Dang, I thought with all the new replies I would have seen some results.
Nope, just arguing....

I am looking at exactly such a transition watch as my good friend wants to part with his. In good condition, what would such piece be worth? We are debating the price.
