No dials are currently available for those cases, so any dial that was sent in that was deemed unacceptable by Omega, would be refinished.
Is that something that Omega would let me decline? Mine really isn't bad, other than the spotting around the 11 marker.
Omega will perform certain tests on the dial. If those tests fail, then they will not use the dial in that state, so refinishing or replacement (where a replacement is available) are considered mandatory. Then the choice is to agree, or have the watch sent back without the service being completed. Note that in the past, some people have not been notified, and they only found out that their dial was refinished when they opened the package. This process relies on people, and people can make mistakes.
Yikes, any interest on taking this on in lieu of Omega then Al?
As some of you already know, I have been digging into Seamaster chronos lately and literally fell in love with them.
I have got some more than that - enough to start a research - found some photos here and there but no dedicated thread, thought let’s make a dedicated and epic one 😀
There are also some similar watches under 145.020 / 145.029 references (or even 145.019 for the soccer time), let’s leave those for another thread and focus on 006 / 016 for this research.
I will use this first post to link all possible variations and dials we’ll find over time.
So far I have identified 15 variations :
Seamaster Chronograph ref. 145.006 (cal. 321, stainless steel case, observed references : 145.006-66)
- Silver radial dial
- Black radial dial (observed variations : Tachymètre / Pulsomètre 30)
- Reverse panda radial dial (observed variations : Applied Ω logo / Painted Ω logo)
- Exotic dial
Seamaster Chronograph ref. 145.006 (cal. 321, solid yellow gold case, observed references : 145.006-66)
- Yellow gold radial dial
- Silver soleil radial dial with gold applied logo and indexes
Seamaster Chronograph ref. 145.016 (cal. 861, stainless steel case, observed references : 145.016-68, 145.016-69)
- Silver radial dial thin indexes
- Silver radial dial fat indexes
- Black radial dial
- Reverse panda radial dial
- Exotic dial
- White soccer time dial
- Gray soccer time dial
Seamaster Chronograph ref. 145.016 (cal. 861, solid yellow gold case, observed references : 145.016-68)
- Yellow gold radial dial
- Silver soleil radial dial with gold applied logo and indexes
The goal of this thread will be to reference all kind of watches from this family produced between 1966 and the early seventies and help the community in identifying nice and all correct examples prior buying.
Also when I have enough information consolidated, I will book a meeting with Petros Protopapas and we’ll check our findings against the archives of Omega Museum. We might have some interesting findings to share at the end.
I will edit this first post with consolidated details when I get some free time available.
In the meantime any pictures or comments on this initiative are welcome 👍
It's terrible to put a Tissot strap on such a watch
Was playing with the red racing Seamaster and some Goodwood revival memorabilia today. What not to like about that watch?
