The everlasting question: Speedmaster vs Seamaster

I started with the blue SMPc and have regretted it since. I would go with the Speedy as it is much more versatile vs the blue SMPc. I couldn't find straps that looked good with the blue, but the Speedy looks great on everything from a nato to a dressed up croc strap. Both great watches, I just lean towards the Speedy having owned the SMPc. Good luck!

Good to hear from someone who was once in the same position. That's my exact fear. That getting the Seamaster I won't find it as versatile and end up selling it to fund the speedy.

I had that dilemma myself in 1999... I ended up getting the Speedmaster. I found that I use the chronograph very little. I have not worn my Speedmaster since I bought my Watchco Seamaster 300.

So, in retrospect, I should have bought the Seamaster 2254.00.00 back then. When I came across the Watcho Seamaster 300, I jumped all over it.

I'm the opposite - hardly ever wear my SM300, but the Speedmaster is almost my daily watch...

I suspect I will calm down a little and just alternate them by week or something. My Speedmaster is out getting the leaf hands and "special tail" sweep seconds hand installed, so that'll make it a little more special.

I am with the group that says buy both.
If it was me, I couldn't buy both at the same time (congratulations to you if you could). So which to buy first
If you truly like both equally, buy the Seamaster. In the five years or so it would take to save for the other, the Speedmaster will look exactly the same while the Seamaster may look different.
I have both, and I wear both equally.

You are right that it is important to consider that the Seamaster gets updated regularly. While the Speedy will most likely remain like this for the near and far future.

Get both - I do however, tend to grab my Speedy (ies) more often for daily wear...and BTW, regardless which one you select, I'd remove before going in the shower, the combination of soap and dirt accumulation is not pretty. 😀

I was just wondering wether it could take showering, if I were to forget to take it off.

You won't forget to take it off. That's like forgetting to wear trousers to work.

Hey Bob, how does the Seamaster go with a suit? Does it fit?

DW 'sez the GMT goes best with my B-day suit....probably 'cuz no one will notice anything but the watch. 😉
