Hi everybody!
A few questions
Please check out the last three words of the thread title, then start a new thread. You will in any case get much better exposure and answers that way.

Dial has some discoloration but… its $300 buy it now for a Geneve 14752, which is an uncommon sort of oversized bezel version of the Geneve, calibre 600. This particular case is quite nice.

This isn't the place for inquiries (see last few words of the thread title...), both for the sake of others and yourself. Create a new thread with your questions, it'll keep this one clean and focussed on what it's about and you're more likely to get better replies.

An evaluation of those two can be summed up with one word, though: "Pass". Both significantly polished, first one has an incorrect crown, the dial damage on the steel example is way beyond attractive, and the price for either one is completely unreasonable in that condition. No offense, but if you are unsure if the gold-capped example is polished and if the crown is correct, I'd strongly recommend taking a few more months to look at good examples here and compare them. You'll develop an eye for it and will make the hunt much easier (as well as possibly slightly frustrating as you start to realize how few of them are actually left in an attractive shape).

thank you - and sorry, I didn’t read properly. Anyway, thanks for your sharp reply as it’s exactly the input I’d need from anyone who understands more about it than me. I’ll go for a new thread.

I got this one,
Congrats!
If I may, did you use a snipe service or just quick fingers?
Reply by pm if you prefer.

Heh, quick fingers! Although probably a bit of luck, I was driving so had to pull over and rely on mobile data on my phone. I didn't know there were snipe services, that seems like cheating! 😁

They have been mentioned here hundreds of times with tales of wrong bids, failed bids and compromised security.
Nothing beats hard work.

And you're missing out on the excitement of the last seconds of an auction. But they come in handy if the auction ends at 3am

Gets the heart pumping! I did a lot of sniping vintage bike bits a few years ago - knew how many seconds my home wifi took to place a bid. I think it’s probably more zen to just put your best bid in earlier and leave it. Problem is your bid is then there to be beaten or nibbled away at. Also if you do get beaten you still gave time to talk yourself in to bidding higher than your best bid 🙄

Edit: so best bid in a closing snipe is how I approach Ebay if I can.

We have lots of threads from members asking opinions on watches listed on ebay. How about we turn things around - let's talk about watches on ebay that are worth purchasing. My disclaimer is that I am not affiliated with any of the sellers whose watches I post here and cannot make any guarantees except to say the watch in the listing looks good to me.

Here is one - a nice looking vintage seamaster:

And a nice looking vintage piepan constellation - I would like better pictures but the ones up in the listing suggest a decent watch. What makes this uncommon is that the markers are silver and not yellow gold. Seller accepts returns so you have some level of security.

Is it just me, or are a big percentage of "Recommended" watches C-cased?
I have one, a 145-020 and I like it, but it is a distinctive design and feel.
Seems like these move a lot.
Do you sense any of this and do I need to move this to another thread before I get yelled at?

I think the most recommended overall is the reference 166.020 Seamaster Deville, C-Cases definitely are up there though as they combine good movements, good water resistance, and good condition more often than not
