Perhaps it should be viewed as being an even rarer and more valuable "gilt" variant? 馃槈

Gold is more valuable than silver... 馃槈

Imagine if one more of my "unknown" dial would surface and in such a way that it would make it legit. Happy days would follow. I have no doubt it is a genuine dial, the execution and the way it came to me, etc. all makes it highly likely, but that does not help much when not being able to prove it.

Could, perchance to dream, this help get your project off the ground? Or is it one of those Australian cases?

From the same stash - an unknown Polerouter sub dial. It would be fun to know its history. I do not have high hopes though.

Thanks. I have been studying the other pictures now. It looks legit for a first execution UGP Sub - but - in my reference library of pics I have not one of those with visiable lugholes. This one looks heavily polished and is uncomplete - the price is ridiculous at 3200 Euro. One can make an offer though.

Has anyone else seen a first execution with holes thru lugs?

Agree with heavily polished, and holes through the lugs is not the norm, certainly.

Hi,
The first picture on page 1 shows the 2 types of first generation polerouters and the one on the right (first execution) shows holes through the lugs if you watch carefully.

I went deer hunting for a couple of hours (successfully) and now the listing is gone. Well, well...

Thank you Carlton-Browne for letting me dream for some short while.

I find the way in which watches change hands in the market fascinating. I sold my first generation Polerouter Sub to a dealer back in October. From memory, it sold a few months later on eBay and it has now resurfaced with another dealer and been picked up by Hodinkee (it has, of course, already sold). Perhaps it goes some way to show how few of these genuine first generation Polerouter Subs there are out there, as this seems to be the only one changing hands.

Interesting thread here - this was my last draw of 2017 and finally back from the watch man. Here we have a slight variant of the Polerouter Super Compressor Version MK1- I've seen it referred to as the MK1.5. The Movement is cal 218-97 (higher bph rate than its predecessor 215) and marked HON for American Import with a reduced number of jewels from 28 to 17.

Notice the funky 'Swiss T' on the dial - Maybe this one marked the switch from Radium to Tritium in these 1st gen models?? It's strange because the T is a different shade color than the SWISS. I've seen a few like these now with that same T.

Under magnification of caseback the worn down serial and ref can be made out 20369-1 2237xxx.
Thanks to all the collectors who generously document these rarities for common knowledge and idiots like me who like to dive right in!!

Question - is this a really "GREY" bezel for the PR Sub 3rd or is it just faded? Looks too good for being faded to me. What do you think?

We know that bezels: black, blue, green, red - and maybe grey?
