·Received an email update:
radio silence since the pre-Xmas email stating end of Dec/early Jan delivery.
Anyone that ordered from Hodinkee get any updates?

Anyone that ordered from Hodinkee get any updates?
My order is through an OB. Omega USA wrote me to say they were overwhelmed by the popularity of the watch and are now expecting to make deliveries in March 2019 thanking me for my patience and hoping they can do better. Of course one could poke quite a bit at the ststement, but I was glad they revised their forecast.
And poke I will - Is that the official response, "overwhelmed my the popularity of the watch"? LOL it is a limited edition of 500 pieces . . . A manufacturer boxed themselves in to a set number of pieces, they can't be overwhelmed.
I asked for my "100% deposit" back a week ago and still waiting for it. I'll jump on whatever they are doing for 50th Apollo w/ 321 caliber.
I was thinking this exact same thing. Having a set target volume is a production planner's wet dream. There's no way they're overwhelmed. Who are you working with the OB in Brookefield (NYC)?

EDIT/UPDATE: I received my credit within an hour of posting this. I feel for the salespeople in this as they have to be the messenger of things out of their control. Anyways, in the grand scheme of things, it's a watch and dare I say time marches on! Looking forward to see what they do for the 50th anniversary of Apollo.
I just got the official email from Hodinkee that mine is pushed back to February/March. They're sending a gift currently to thank all the people that have preordered for their patience.
Despite being a fan of Speedmasters and Omegas in general for a long time (and trying on many, many models at my local Omega boutique over the years), I’ve actually never owned one, so this is my first, and I couldn't be happier. I ordered through the Hodinkee website before they sold out and just received mine as part of the first batch that shipped out this week.
First impressions: I really, really, like it. Say what you want about the overabundance of Omega LEs, but I like having watches that are a bit offbeat or that otherwise have something interesting about them, and this certainly meets that criteria. I plan to wear this often.

The included leather strap is soft and looked very comfortable, but unfortunately it was just too big for my small wrists (not enough holes in the strap), so I took it off almost immediately.
Here it is on the very nice Omega NATO:

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the general bulk of NATO straps, so then I swapped on the blue davenport strap that Hodinkee sold along with the watch as a $99 add-on. This was perfect and I think looks great:

Again, very very happy with my purchase (I'm also a huge fan of Hodinkee in general, so take that as you will). Happy to answer any questions for anyone interested.
