Nothing here will separate me from my money...

I am so happy. No expenditures for the near future from me either.

Hi @Riviera Paradise

I'm not a Rolex fan so i cant comment much but for the price of an Explorer , i could have purchased a DeVille Orbis Hour Vision , did my part for charity, AND brought home a Tudor BBB. Anyway the explorer looks like a Tudor Heritage Ranger from afar
Old fashion Riviera is more of a tradisionalist Moonphase complication Guy ? You're well aware the modern version's more accurate & needs adjustment..every 10 yrs or so ?
Ok grandpa Riviera is 75 yrs old on his rocking chair by the fireplace telling wonderful stories to his grandchildren about the JFK''s promise to put America in space & on the moon by end of the decade & stories of lunar missions. How Incredibly Cool would that be if Grandpa Riviera could also actually show his grandkids High Resolution NASA imaging of Neil Amstrongs footprints on the surface of the moon. To me that's not gimmicky but educational. The 1st upright walking Human footprints on earth to the 1st footprints on the moon took 4.5 million yrs ! And here you are having sleepless nights trying to decide which model to choose from when i could have picked one with my eyes closed in a Heartbeat !
If "Grandpa" Riviera will reserve a second rocking chair for me I'll tell his grandchildren how I stayed up really late as a little boy along with over 720 million other people around the globe that night to watch the live transmission of the landing and first giant leap. Hell, I could even show them the colour pictures of Neil's & Buzz's footprints on the surface of the moon from the two UK Sunday Times Newspaper Colour Supplements printed a few weeks later that I still have to this day. You can keep all the high-tech nonsense, there is magic in traditional simplicity. i would gladly swap the whole of today's cynicism, greed and hatred for a little of the magic that brought the whole world in peace together at that time.

I am not having sleepless nights...the Explorer 1 is a classic..many consider it to be the definition of what Rolex tool watch should be...the Basel 2016 release has adjusted some design aspects to make it perfect...comparing it to the Tudor is not really appropriate...the Speedy Pro does not need a footprint....it has real moonwatch DNA in its 1861 engine. Cheers

Do you think this is high enough resolution? Date: August 3, 1969. I'd need an electron microscope to view the footprint on that Speedy.

A lot of the releases I find interesting but don't scratch the necessary itch to plan on pulling the trigger on purchase. I was worried coming into today that there would be a barrage of "need to have" items leaving me

First I was relieved. Then my eyes widened when I saw

And now I am overwhelmed with only one thought

It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. However, it tickles me in all the right places.

Omega put this up on Instagram about an hour ago. They say they are releasing six new calibres [presumably all Master Chronometer].

These are the examples I can think of:

* No-date [platinum Globemaster]

* Date only [non-platinum Globemaster, Planet Ocean]

* Date + GMT [Planet Ocean]

* Date + Annual Calendar [funky Globemaster]

* Date + Chronograph [Grey Side with meteorite dial]

* Date (on sub-dial) + Chronograph + Moon phase [Blue Moon, Blood Moon, etc.]

Addendum: If there is a date wheel lurking behind the dial of the platinum Globemaster, then maybe the sixth new calibre is a smaller-diameter calibre for the Chocolate Planet Ocean?

Monochrome GMT looks pretty good, but bar the 39mm Speedy, most of these are way too big for me!

Nice callback on the Ti dial Planet Ocean

All winners in my book. That GMT is going to be an Omega legend.

I thought the new moonphase speedy had finally sorted out the issue of the tachy hand blocking the moonphase. My wife just pointed out something that now I've noticed it, it would probably bug the hell out of me. Couldn't they have made the end of the tachy hand just a little shorter?

I suppose I will just have to wear high heels to go with my Burberry handbag and Danish girl look😲😁😁

Actually Megan I was thinking about the traditional Speedmaster Professional with the Moonphase complication. When I saw the Basel 2016 launch the new Speedy Moonphase Blue, it intrigued me....and I started hunting down previous Speedy Moonphase examples....I then realized that there was an existing model available, which looks elegant and has the added bonus of a transparent case back for the 1861 movement.

I am also now smitten with the new Explorer 1 launched at Basel 2016.

Incidentally....I have discovered renewed love my Orbis Hour Vision😀...I have been wearing it for several days now...so it will probably not be flipped any time soon...so the Speedy Pro Moonphase and new Explorer 1 will probably occupy slots 9 and 10 in my collection....which would leave out the Globemaster blue dial SS for now😲

The explorer sure is interesting. Not only because off the lume choice but they elongated (or evened out) the minute hand and, most interestingly but also most polemic of all instead of applied metal 3,6,9 now they have lume filled numbering. That is for sure going to be a topic of huge discussion as it's the largest departure from the explorer design to date.

Yes, elongating the hands was the most important correction. Also the watch is now tested to +2/-2 chrono spec + 5 yr guarantee.

I agree it will generate discussion and perhaps hate for the traditionalists, but I think the strong blue lume and lume filled numbering is consistent with the Exp 1 tool watch heritage....if I were climbing a mountain in low visibility conditions...I would certainly appreciate as much lume as possible. It is certainly something I admire in my Polar Exp II...you don´t even have to wait for it to get dark to start seeing that blue hue..probably the best time to look at an Explorer II is just after sunset...I think the new Exp I will offer the same appeal😀

Maybe. I do like the strong lume and love, love the fat and long hands (they're also considerably fatter. But I am not sure if like the lines numbers. I just love the applied numerals. If it had applied numerals I'd buy it now and just give away or sell my current e1. But I don't think I want those numbers as is. We'll see when it's at the store.

red side of the moon?

I'm going to assume the lighting conditions are harsh but, that said, woof.
