Now That’s Just Typical! (Tintin…)

Having only recently just bought my Seamaster 300M Diver, I am not going to be purchasing anything else, for a little while anyway!

Just in browsing online, I happen to have clapped eyes on a Speedmaster which I think is just epic.

It turns out that it’s model number 311.30.42.30.01.004, which is better know as the Tintin!

Not only out of stock, but seriously over what I would be prepared to spend at any point. Absolutely lovely looking watch though!!!

Is there anyone on here lucky enough to own one?

You should amend your thread title to include Tin Tin to get the right people to see it easier.

Yep, agree. Plenty of Tintin lovers here, OP.

I've got a colleague who has one, although the only time I've seen him wear it is while golfing. He calls it his "red watch."

This is a 311.30.42.30.01.005, which is a regular Speedy Pro that I modded into a “TinTin.” I was fortunate to purchase an unused/sealed TinTin dial and had my watchmaker put it in this watch.

Ah yes 😀 I ordered this Speedy new from an Omega AD and it came with the 3861 DON bezel, for some reason. It also has the 3861 bracelet, but I ordered that after the fact.

I am afraid, you are late by some 5 years! 5 years ago it was in the windows and was roughly EUR 3 k! At least this is what I bought mine for.

Beautiful watch and costco had them in their cabinets at one point too. Wish I took the plunge then

Indeed. I have always fancied what I refer to as a proper watch, but only now been in a position to join the club.

5 years ago was sadly impossible.

Shane it’s no longer available, but such is life I guess.

A friend of mine was willing to sell his Speedmaster to me last year, I wish I had bought it then.

The Tintin is a great looking piece but the price now is beyond what I'll pay for a Speedmaster with nothing more going for it other than the dial and different colored lettering on the back. But since the Tintin days Omega has had some really nice and different Speedmasters; ST1, ST2, the two CK2998 editions, the Tokyo 2020 Rising Sun, the Apollo 8 and a few others that could have been picked up at retail or at a slight premium for awhile after their releases. The game is to assess each of the new ones that come out and determine if it is something you want, and then don't wait too long to score one from a dealer or from the grey market before the price increases too much. But they are like busses and pretty girls, if you miss one they'll be another one along soon.

If you like it buy it !
I dug it and spent abt $8k a couple years ago on it
Which at the time was “outrageous” but I liked it so I bought it
Now it’s worth twice that which is a happy result but if the watch makes you smile then buy it
