New Update to the Speedy 3861

I am about to buy a 3861 and now that the clasp is coming out I def might as well wait. What at most a month or so and then I can buy the bracelet with the new microclasp for the same price as the bracelet now. Seems like pluses all across the board with no negatives besides waiting a few weeks more.

It makes sense to wait. And might not have to wait that long actually; they’re already being sold to customers

I have a 2021 3861 and thankfully have a good fit. I wear my watches tighter than looser and I find myself always adjusting the on the fly adjustments on my other pieces, but I’ve never had the urge or need to adjust the clasp on my Speedy for some reason

On the ‘57 product page, the bracelet is described as having a “Foldover clasp with comfort setting.” I think this is a more accurate description than “adjustable.” This feature is not yet live on the SMP product page. I’m hoping the price does not change, as I’m in the market.

Has anyone else purchased this watch which had the new clasp already installed? Doesn't seem to be any others that have been posted here on OF.

I just received confirmation from the manager at the Atlanta OB that they have the 3861 with micro-adjust clasp, but only in sapphire crystal.
He said he'd keep an eye out and let me know if and when it shows up on the hesalite version.

Cheers,

Does anyone know of a dealer with the Sapphire bracelet in stock with the new micro clasp? I think the NYC store had a couple of the hesalite bracelets in stock last week.

Hi All,

I have been awaiting this micro-adjustable clasp for the speedmaster for a while now, so very excited to see this.

So I have a question... Since this is upgrade/update to the clasp, if we send our watch in for service, will they put in the new clasp for free?

The ref 117Z017553 is effectively the chronoscope clasp (ref 117STZ013899) packaged with the needed attachement link. Which is now standard on the Speedy Pro.

Well it is hard to say because I do not know the prices of the Snoopy on the bracelet vs the strap stock, especially because I am not even sure the Snoopy comes stock from Omega with a bracelet. So without knowing that I'll help with telling what I did.

Recently was deciding something similar, wanted the Speedmaster Pro Hesalite on the bracelet but was unsure of how to order it best.

Figured out that for this example it made more sense financially to actually buy it on the strap and then buy the bracelet separate. This is because the bracelet and nylon strap Speedy's have a 400$ difference for the all in watch purchase price. Just buying the strap and buckle is $500 and just buying the bracelet is $680 individually. So MSRP price, buy Speedy on strap $6000, buy bracelet after the fact, total price $6680. Alternatively, buy Speedy on bracelet, $6400 and if end up adding the strap/buckle totals to $6900.

I went that route and I at least am very happy I did, plus now turns out I can get the bracelet with the new microclasp included to boot!

Need some advice: I got lucky enough to get the call to purchase my snoopy today! Very excited to finally be getting this wonderful piece after 2 years. Now, I was planning to purchase the sapphire sandwhich bracelet, but my dealer said it does not have the flask with the micro adjustments and he is unable to order the clasp yet. I really do like the look of the Snoopy on the bracelet, but am now wondering if I should wait for the bracelet to be updated w/the new clasp or purchase with the current clasp. I guess I can always buy the clasp after the fact for what I'm assuming is likely $200ish, which depending on resale value of the original, may not make much sense on a $680 bracelet. Anyway, appreciate anyones thoughts on this nice problem to have 😀.

At the price point of our Speedys, I’m seriously disappointed in the lack of quick adjustment - especially given how nice the 3861 bracelet is.

Well the new microadjustments are coming out, and being stock on the watch and stock when purchasing the bracelet alone as well.

I do not think price has anything to do with if a watch is going to have a micro adjustment. Audemar Piguet Royal Oak's have never had any micro adjustments even though being priced at between 50 to a 100 thousand dollars. People still say they are perhaps the best bracelets ever supposedly. I am curious actually to see if anybody ends up liking the old clasp vs the new micro adjustment clasp. A lot of micro-adjust clasps are going to be bigger and wider then the normal clasp.

I've never had the need for an adjustable clasp on any bracelet watch that has removable links. Just lucky maybe, but I can always get a proper fit. For the 3861 I took out two links on the 6 o'clock side and one link on the 12 o'clock side, fits perfect on my 7.5" wrist. Isn't the new clasp slightly longer than the original one? Probably not a deal killer but the smaller the clasp the better, imo.

Bracelets have greatly improved over the years. I've had Nautilus and RO bracelets over the years and they are very good with a lot of hand finishing and fitment, and they should be at their price points. The new 3861 bracelet is excellent now, especially on a $6-7k watch.

Ok, I am admittedly late to this party, but allow me to ask a naive question: don’t the “1st Gen” SS bracelets have that “micro adjustment” feature by ways of having an extra hole drilled in the clasp!?

I must admit that I don’t have a 3861 in the stable, but my Speedy Moonshine, which I thought had the same bracelet as the SS one (or thereabout), has this feature.

And if that is indeed the case, then I can tell you that I’d rather have the 1st Gen “simple solution” that can be operated with a toothpick or a paper clip, rather than this over complicated 2nd Gen “push button-operated” two position-adjustment one.

If we talk about the true “micro adjustment” clasp that I believe was on the Tokyo editions, then that’s a different story. I’d rather pay $$$ for that one, even if it doesn’t say “Speedmaster” on the clasp.

Or what did I miss!?

Popped into the local Omega Boutique (Bluewater) last night, still torn on my next big purchase, however the Speedy Sapphire is high on the list. Tried it on again and still very impressed. no micro adjustment ion the display model & sales assistant wasn't aware of one coming.

However he did say a 7% price increase UK across the board is coming the end of January, makes the Speedy sapphire over £7k in my books, ouch!

Wow, I bought the hesalite version with the bracelet for £5350 in January 2022. I could've gotten the sapphire one for less than what they're selling the hesalite for now.

Crazy isn't it. Pretty much doubled from the older 1861 movement
