Just tried to order it from swatch. They said it’s not set up in their system yet and should be available to order in the beginning of 2023.

The bracelet or clasp?

Just the clasp. I used the part number posted above. They could see that it was in the system just not available for purchase yet.

Just buy the 3861 bracelet now, you may find you don't need the adjustable feature. I think the adjustable feature is overblown in general. It's usually not needed.

IMHO you don't need the adjustable bracelet until you do, then your a day late and a dollar short.

I got the Seamaster as my first good watch and got the stainless version over the ceramic as the rubber strap was either too big or too small. Got the Seamaster sized perfectly on bracelet in store.

Didn’t realise quite how much I would use the adjustable clasp though, as I regularly flit between three different positions throughout the day. It’s definitely something worth considering, assuming you like it fitted to your wrist over wearing it loose over your hand obviously.

If you do, please let us know what you learn!

Of course!

I dropped into the OB yesterday at the Beverly Center, Los Angeles, and met with our long-time Candy Man, Rohan. He manages the Boutique and managed the now-closed Topanga Boutique where we first met him over seven years ago. I explained to him that I was there to check out a rumour -- the rumour that 3861 Speedmasters now came with bracelets that had micro-adjustable clasps. He said he had heard that through the grapevine as well, but there was nothing official from Omega that he has seen. What he did say is that he hasn't been able to get 3861 Speedmasters with stainless steel bracelets for several weeks now, which is extremely unusual given that this is literally a top-seller in any Boutique, anywhere. He speculated that maybe there is a "reconfiguration" going on with respect to the clasps and that's why bracelet-equipped Speedmasters are currently unavailable to him -- but again, this was just speculation on his part.

I also explained to Rohan that I had come into the shop prepared to buy a 3861 Speedmaster, IF it had a bracelet with a micro-adjustable clasp. He apologized for not having exactly what I wanted... but I could see the wheels turning in his head. He picked up a laptop computer and looked at his current inventory. He had plenty of 3861 Speedmasters with the plain, black leather strap. And, he had a replacement stainless steel bracelet for the 3861 as well. AND, most importantly, he had a replacement micro-adjustable clasp for the Speedmaster Chronoscope in stock!

We made a deal in which he would build me a 3861 Speedmaster with stainless steel bracelet and micro-adjustable clasp, using one of the leather-strap-equipped watches he had in stock. And since I didn't really like the leather strap, he would swap that for a sailcloth strap with deployant clasp and make that part of the deal as well. All I had to decide then was: Hesalite, or Sandwich. I had already mulled over this decision for months and months, and have made several trips into the Boutique just to look at these two alternatives sitting on my wrist. I already own two Speedys with hesalite crystals, and two with sapphire, so I have a pretty good understanding of the pluses and minuses each has to offer. Ultimately I decided on Sapphire Sandwich.

Once the decision was made, Rohan went to work on my quasi-custom build. It didn't go quite as smoothly as we expected. In order to get a proper fit between the 'old' bracelet and the Chronoscope clasp, he had to take a donor part from the old clasp and transplant it to the Chronoscope clasp. Eventually, though, we got what we wanted. Here's the result.

For those who are unfamiliar with this particular micro-adjustable clasp, it has just two positions, which I'll call Closed (the upper of the two clasp photos) and Open. I measured a 2mm increase in the bracelet's effective length between the Closed and Open positions.

So there you have it, quite a long-winded response to a simple request 😀

Thanks for the detailed report! And, of course, congrats on the pickup!

I thought hesalite too at first but I think the chief of energy is right. You can catch a glimpse of the display case back and also the polished links at certain angles.

My two bits on the hesalite vs sapphire conundrum: if you're only going to own one Speedmaster Moonwatch, go for hesalite -- there is a beauty to the crystal+dial combo that simply cannot be matched with sapphire.

Or is that a hesalite crystal?

It seems that there are two different watches in this video (three with the gold version). The one that appears in the frame you posted above is IMO a hesalite model with the regular clasp, which he shows as empty, you can see the printed logo and no pohished links. Unfortunately, when he shows the empty clasp I can't see the case back. The other one is IMO a sapphire model with the new clasp, you can see the display case back and the polished links. I could be wrong though.

@4011021 is correct: there are two stainless steel Speedmasters in the video - one with the old clasp and one with the new, adjustable clasp (which is definitely a sapphire sandwich). The screenshot which @Omarrye posted above is from the portion of the video which shows the old clasp, which appears to be on a hesalite model (printed logo, no polished links).

I am about to buy a 3861 and now that the clasp is coming out I def might as well wait. What at most a month or so and then I can buy the bracelet with the new microclasp for the same price as the bracelet now. Seems like pluses all across the board with no negatives besides waiting a few weeks more.
