I don't think i'd be comfortable wearing a watch that causes radium burns like that

As long as you don鈥檛 eat the watch the Radium itself shouldn鈥檛 be a problem... 馃槈

I would say that is very clearly a redial, judging from the rounded edges of the sub-seconds dial. That might explain the very unusual radium burns to the crystal. The non-original radium could perhaps have been more radioactive than the radium typically used in watch factories of the period.

The font of the sub-dial looks atrocious.

I dont think that subdial print is of original Longines factory quality to say the least.

Tbh I do tend to agree but still...distortion and the quality of the picture. Would like to see it without crystal

I'm not sure what your point is. Based on the photograph available, it looks like a redial, so no (again, based on the information available), that watch does not appear to be worth collecting. Also, as I noted above, the radium burns are more severe than we normally see, which also points to a redial. Radium is dangerous not only if you eat it. It emits radon gas that can accumulate to dangerous levels if your storage space is not ventilated. Ventilating solves the problem, but still, why add another radon-emitting watch to your collection if it has no vintage value?

Did you end up buying this? So curious.
I'm curious too. For $50, I think it's worth the gamble.

You should definitely not touch the dial on a watch like this without protection for your hands and a mask. We have at least a dozen posts on radium dangers on the forum. Just do a Search and you will see them.

I'm quite surprised that Grey & Sons would handle a radium dial in that matter. They are a large and well respected shop in our area.

My understanding is that there is very little danger from simply wearing a radium dialed watch on an occasional basis. Don't sleep with it on, especially if you put your hands near your head.

I find it interesting that in the video they refered to it ask "ink" on the dial that burned the crystal.

Could be a language translation issue, as the narrator is not a native English speaker.
