You know that serial numbers in that period for Omega have been documented as being non sequential right (well batches tended to be sequential)?

Additionally we also know that some of the watches, where sent back to Omega for service and received new movements. There are three glaring examples that proves that on your spreadsheet. How exactly was a movement not produced until 1968 used on missions in 1965?
Talk to Area 51 guys about that.... they arrange such things

@Steve Morley

Look we really wish that you had that watch, and would be even more impressed if you could retain ownership of said watch. Looking at it from very informed non biased eyes, there is no way yours is the watch you want it to be, just from what you have provided.

There are multiple problems in the documents you have provided. The delivery date is way to late, is a big one, as it is common knowledge they wore these watches during the training program, and it has been photo documented in the years proceeding the missions, some members here have talked about the history of the watches with the actual astronauts and confirmed when it was received, if it was the same one during training, and the disposition of the watches post mission. If NASA or Omega could confirm it as the correct watch they have no reason not to, they recovered one of the lost watches last year in fact from South America. My understanding is while yours is marked with a number it is missing the rest of the NASA added engravings in the correct style, and does not match the correct serial number that is not common knowledge.
At the end of the day, without the copy of the system and component historical record.( upper left hand corner) is the actual movement numbers) it’s all speculation.

Note: Collins watch delivered December 6th 1968. Note: SEB121100039-002. And or 001. Why?? All you have to do is look at the front dial. Non professional 001 and professional 002. “SEBY” in fact some of the watches were hand engraved. Not by NASA,but Morris in New York. They did the calibrations and were the only ones to open the watches.

So your watch was delivered way after that watch, and matches what I’ve stated already. Your point? So under your reasoning a watch delivered later had an earlier NASA serial number.

Also your calling that a non professional dial?

this is entertaining... likely fiction, but highly entertaining.

all that documentation and you can't come up with a picture of your watch that would somehow connect the dots?

friggin tragic

Can someone help me catch up on this story? OP owns a watch with serial # close to Aldrin’s one..... annnddddd what else??? Is he just trying to “claim” that he OWNS DA watch?!? 👎

I am sure a few pictures would clear everything… 😁

From what I gather:

1. OP - by the OF name of Steve Morley - likely has a 145.012 Speedmaster with S/N 26549951.
2. OP shows that a collector has a spreadsheet showing the astronaut names, missions, likely speedy references, and first 5 digits of the watch S/N. This spreadsheet shows that Aldrin's watch is a 145.012 with a S/N as 26549XXX - with a footnote saying "according to Mr. Morley 2003" ::facepalm1::
3. OP states that "without a copy of the system and component of historical records ... It's all speculation". Not sure what he is trying to say here ...
4. OP states that the engraving of the back of the NASA watches could be either SEB12100039-001 (Ed White) or -002 (Professional) - likely true.

Wonder what's coming next ...🍿

He has a watch with a number engraved on it that does not match the nasa engravings. Both NASA and Omega have examined the watch and say it’s not the most valuable watch in the world and are not interested.

Everything else is him taking a narrow view of data without any other information and making it fit his narrative even when his own data clearly shows it cannot be the watch. He is ignoring that data even when he offered it as proof.

Or it’s a troll.

Even if it was Aldrin's missing watch, it would be property of NASA. Proving that he has Aldrin's watch would lead it going to live in the Smithsonian with the others.

It's not a troll. He was doing this in 2003. If he proves he has the watch, he'll be arrested. He's hoping to get some yokel to PM him and offer big bucks for the watch.

Wouldn’t he show the watch? Oh wait it’s marked wrong.

I’d be happy just owning a watch that was within a thousand of the one that first made it on the moon.

Though I do like the bit about the watch being “found on the beach” 😒

Don’t take it to Omega for servicing. They’ll update everything! :whipped:
