The red strap is really what I was after here, but this halfway decent Gen 1 came with. 😀
This quartzie from a well known enthusiast around these parts.

Couldn't resist the low price on this one.

And finally, a top secret new arrival that's still "on the way". 😀

I had a pretty quiet year in 2015. Started off by picking up two Bulova Self Windings:

The total cost for both Bulovas was less than dinner for one at a nice restaurant. One even came with the original box!

The next one is totally out of character for me, but it is just so different I had to buy it. Zodiac Astrographic Jump Hour:

This one is a bit of a project, as it needs a cleaning badly and the case is pretty beat up. Hands and numeric dial are a bit out of sync also. I think I will send this to Paul in Sacramento after the first of the year. He seems to know his way around these Zodiacs.

Next one was a bit unexpected. I got a call from a forum member who was cleaning out a large chunk of his collection around the middle of the year. I had another one like this, but he made me the proverbial "offer he can't refuse".

BTW, Dennis retains the dibs rights on this one. Least I could do. 😁

After that, I turned my sights to a brand that I never considered before, Girard Perregaux. Netted these two beauties for surprisingly reasonable prices:

The really nice part about this watch is found under the caseback. Simply stunning:

Here's the other GP, from down under:

Last one was an Omega Constellation, but not one of the iconic models we see to often on the forum:

This one was a purchase by accident. The watch looked nice with original beveling on the case and matte finish on top. I put in a snipe at a ridiculously low price. Woke up the next morning and found out I was the new owner at $50 less than my ridiculous bid. Just got it back from the watchmaker, but there is a (hopefully minor) problem with the new Omega crown and needs to go back.

Well, maybe 2015 wasn't that quiet after all.

Wow ... well done!!!! Bulova did make some cool watches !!! Cheers!

Besides these pickups I'm sure you've helped a quite few to add to their (our, I confess) pile 😁 😎

It was a pretty good year for me, with a mix of modern and vintage, sport and dress watches, and rather random nibblings from various brands.

Kicked off the year with a Grand Seiko

Then a MF 5513 which I really love, courtesy of HQ Milton.

Then a VC

Ended off the year with 2 more I didn't expect to buy since I wasn't quite into chronographs or Panerais, but as it turned out, I liked them a whole lot!

All in all, a good year, with lots more learning, generous advice from fellow forum members, and a strong sense of community with all of you. 👍 Already looking forward to 2016!

@NT931 This Grand Seiko of yours 🥰🥰🥰

Back to OP, not much this year - many of my watches were offered a full service though - except for a couple of Speedies ... on my wife request ( true story 😎 )

First was mine, a 145.022-68ST, thanks to Pete @Barking mad 👍 ... previous property of Paul @Darlinboy 😉 ... a forum watch you might say, which travelled a lot actually.

The 2 pictures below were taken actually on our way to buy my wife an Explorer 1016 ...

... except she felt in love with my watch 😲 and wanted the 1016 no more.Oh boy !!! Women ... 😜

Ok then, let's start the hunt for her Speedy 🙄 . We tried some - amongst them were a 145.022-69ST, a Gemini IV...

...the FOIS, etc ... - but eventually she chose the so called "Tintin", kind of a Speedmaster with a bit of fashion she said 😁

Tadaaaa ...

... and finally do they live happily ever after 🥰

To be continued ... ?!?

I am, at the same time, furiously envious of you being able to share your interest with your wife and immensely relieved that my girlfriend has little interest in my watches!! 😁

Gorgeous watches, beautiful woman! 👍

2015 was the year when I went gaga over 2 register chronos!

And , I might add, infected me now with the same 'illness' ! Lovely collection, still looking for my first one but might be almost there...

I had a huge year with many wonderful pieces but two of my favourites are Omegas. My Omega SM 300 Milsub and an Israeli Air Force SM 120. The neat thing is that I got the SM120 directly from the Fighter Pilot who wore it on all of his aerial combat missions for 12 years (1973-85), a nice Letter of Provenance verifying the information with photos of the watch and serial number. The missing lume in the minute hand is the way it came and will remain so as it matches the picture on his letter.

Cheers,
Buster

I bought 5 watches this year, so it's been a good one, the date just was an impulse buy, (sorry omega) but when the time comes that a grand luxe constellation comes up for sale it will be staying with me.

Nice! you purchased what I might refer to as "bulletproof" collectibles. Those Omega 30 tu's (I think that's what she's called) are in such high demand.

Hi Gemini,
Yes, more good luck than good management on the bezels. the SM120 dates to 1972 and the SM300 is 1967. I've ordered an Omega extract for the SM120 and look forward to seeing what they say. At best it will say delivered to the Israeli Military and at worst it will just say Israel. Another neat anecdote is that he specifically mentions that the 120 has been to 70,000' in a F-4 Phantom.

Cheers,

Buster

And perhaps was a bit lower taking out anti aircraft missle installations in the Bekaa Valkey.
