I have to admit, the more I look at these pics, the more that hour hand grows on me.

I hate how they keep changing the designs every year and the watch is a tad big, but overall I like the vintage inspired design.
Devil's advocate is that standard speedy manual wind is 5k plus retail. So is the price completely out there? I'm not sure.

.. IWC what have you done..

It has potential. Remove the day and date. Re arrange the subdials. Fix the hour hand. Dump the funky NATO.... and it will look more attractive. 馃榾

And add a tachymetre bezel et voila Speedmaster!

The 3706 is a stone cold classic guys, one of the jewels in IWCs back catalogue, up there with the early Mark series, Cal. 89 dress watches (move over Patek) - I鈥檝e had mine since the late 1990s and it鈥檚 my favourite watch (after the Speedmaster of course).
Yes, the handset is quirky, but it鈥檚 a grower and knowing it鈥檚 lineage makes you appreciate it even more. The size is perfect at 39mm, it dresses down or up (looks great with a D.J. Ahem Tux) and the movement is bomb proof. Tritium plots age perfectly and the black dials patinate to charcoal grey........it鈥檚 a future collectible and prices are a comparative bargain second hand, these were +2x the price of a Speedmaster when new.

........then IWC cashed in their chips, reissued yet another blown up version, way to big, day date badly positioned (small movement, big case) internet only, on a poor strap. $5k!!!!! When you can buy the original for $3k, a bit more on one of the best bracelets there is. Bad strategic marketing decision imho.

All the best

Nathan

I keep looking at this for my next purchase. I like everything about it, actually rather have that strap as quality leather bands are easier to source than a NATO like this.

One thing holding me back is paying list. When ADs get this, how much discount can one expect?

....that`s simply the modern way to "design" watches.
Take a 25 years or older from your collection make it minimum +10% bigger.
Give here fake patina Luminova and make it so expensive you can 馃檨

That`s why i love vintage watches so much 馃憤

You will get more of a discount if you can wait a year for these not to sell and back up inventory. 馃榾
