Is this Constellation dial correct?

Thank you @Peemacgee

On a separate note, not sure if it is poor form to discuss about price, but what would you think is a fair price for the above example? Gold capped, unpolished as far the pictures show, sharp lugs, original buckle... 3500EUR?

if you are talking about the original watch you show, we would need to see more of the watch to assess it properly.
However, no gold cap Connie is worth that price, €3,500 is the price for an 18k Connie in great condition.
If it really is good, then something like half of that might be reasonable, retail.

Came across it on chrono24. Thought it looked really good. You can even see the fresh edges of the gold cap (not 100% sure though if that should be the way). Looking at the watch as a whole, I have little doubts about it except the nuances about the MOY. Beyond that, it looks kosher.

All looks correct.
Gold cap watches are never going to be as sharp as SS or solid gold and this is certainly a nice enough watch. (Although IIRC someone posted a much sharper gold cap dogleg recently)
The ad says serviced and it would need to be as it has signs of heavy rotor rub.

However, it is all something of a moot point as the price is absolutely crazy and unless you have money to burn, the advice would have to be, have a little patience, save your money and find a more reasonably priced watch.

Looking at the CH24 pictures is it even pink gold....or just clever adjustment of the colour levels? I don't see pink gold mentioned in the listing.

If it's 18kt yellow gold I'd put it more around the €2.5K mark and for gold top €1.2-1.7K private sale

Even the €1250-1750 you quote would be a fairly strong price for a gold cap Constellation. And it would have to be in much better condition than this one, looking at the advert linked after your post 😵‍💫

I recently bought (and returned) an 18K pie-pan Constellation for <€2000 which was in a similar condition to this one.

...That gasket does not look reassuring to me 👎

I agree -I noticed that, it looks like an original gasket.

I thought it was pink gold capped, so was pricing that in. But I have seen private sales of very good condition YG gold cap 168.005's at the upper end of my range ( although not to you of course 😁 )

No money to burn! And the research is a lot of fun. Some say that's where the fun lies.

I will stay patient to find a much more reasonably priced watch in OF or elsewhere.

I believe it's a colour adjustment which I have come across more than once by many sellers on their pieces. When you get them to snap a shot from a mobile camera or non-processed photo, you see the true colours - pun not intended 😉

Interestingly, when I went and looked at my own similar Constellation dial (which I believe is original?) it arguably also has some minor variation of gaps between minute markers and facets. Compare in particular the 12-3:00 region vs. 6-9:00.

Speaking of original and since there are some experts looking in here - though Omega signed, is this the correct crown? This writeup http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/2009/01/omega-constellation-crowning-glories.html by Desmond Guilfoyle would seem to suggest only an octagonal crown would be correct but there also seemed to be some lingering debate.

It should be octagonal. But my main concern would be about the case. It seems quite polished

Make that “should be Decagonal” just like Desmond’s article states. 👍

And yes, my watch seems to have seen the polishing wheel though just how I got it 25 years ago.

Yup, ten sides, not eight.

A part of Omega's twenty year quest to perfect the most impractical winding crown design, starting with the clover crown through the decagonal design and terminating in the hidden crown on the .004 and .010 Constellations, a design so practically useless that it beggars belief.

Yeah -but they all look really good!
