So been offered £11k for my 2016 piece considering putting toward a Pepsi jubilee but very conscious the Hulk may well be discontinued next year - if it is - do you guys expect it to appreciate a lot more and if so how much?

My opinion is to sell it, and get the SD4000-116600 and save the change

Decided to keep the hulk can't let it go love it too much taking the sales post down. Will keep it for special occasions and get the awesome new blue diver as my daily wear soon - think they go really well as a pair

Thanks for all the comments guys helped me make my mind up

Glad you kept it - think it's hard to know what the market will do, and if you're not hard up for the cash, keep the watch if you love it. Otherwise there are safer ways to invest.

I’m aso thinking about the blue Seamaster. But it will have to wait until I’m done paying the 50th anniversary.

Nice to read these reactions. Due to circumsa
Sold mine in 2016.

Regretted it, bought another last June 2018 when it was 1 week (s)old.

The seller bugs me once a month for the past year to buy it back and I refuse.

I feel bad for him, but I have to watch out for moi.

This is the most typical anecdote I've read, literally everyone who sold his Hulk regretted it!

And now I'm considering trading it towards a Sea Dweller Deep Blue 126660.

But, I'm currently trading my SubC No Date and older wave dial Ti SMP chronograph to get an Sea Dweller 43mm 50th anniversary 126600 and if I don't like that then I could trade that for the Deep Blue 126660.

My son is 6 years old, as soon as he popped out when they were wiping the cheese off him I sent my friend whose a Rolex AD a message and bought my son a Green Ceramic Sub which is in his name and dated the day he was born. It is sitting in my safe waiting for him someday.
I regret selling the Green Sub I had for myself and just have not been able to justify getting one at current prices.
If you love it keep it, if you don't love it get rid of it and get something you will love.

Thankyou for the comments guys

Can anyone comment on the original question of how much you think it might appreciate IF it were discontinued?

Take a look at the prices of its forebear the Kermit, once discontinued in 2010 it has steadily appreciated. As they say past performance is not necessarily an indication of future performance but it may be a bit of a crystal ball 👍

No one really knows what Rolex will do but most Hulk owners I know who sold theirs end up regretting it

I sold it and only regretted it because I didn't wait longer for the price to rise. I think the rumors of discontinuation are just that - unfounded rumors. Why stop making something that sells? I say, take the money and run.

Of course, for me, I got tired of that green and didn't love the watch. If you love it, keep it. If it's just a watch, then take the profit and be happy.

There were rumours of the Kermit being discontinued for a number of years in advance of the event but with the Kermit there was the ceramic bezel in the wings so it was always likely that the discontinuation was a change in bezel. Not sure what they'd do with the Hulk?

My son is sentimental, and likes watches that I've worn and built memories while wearing them. It would not suck for you to wear it on special occasions that you celebrate with him or with your wife, and then have it serviced every 5-7 years so it's ready for him when the time comes.

I gave my son a birth year SMP Bond Quartz for his 18th birthday, but I bought it used and other people had enjoyed it before he did. He said that wished I had bought it when it was new, wore it, and then handed it down later (same with the birth year 3572.50 Moonwatch that he's getting for his college graduation next year).

swap out for kermit?
+1 for the Kermit. Love mine, but it depends what you're looking for as if it's an investment then there have already been significant price increases as a result of it now being a finite number. You may get better returns if there are changes to the Hulk in future.

One of the things that I like about the Kermit are that there are a number of tweaks to the dial that Rolex made during its life so there are sub-sets, although not as many as with the Speedy!

Since I got my Apollo 8th and Apollo 50th anniversary I have not really been wearing mine. Yesterday I did and it amazes me how beautiful the dial is, specially under the sun. It’s a nice change.
