How does the forum feel about the FOIS?

I tried to love my FOIS, but the sapphire crystal milk ring and often difficult to read hands were too much for me. I was able to sell it for more than I paid, so no complaints.

Not sure why Omega feels the need to make so many variations of the Speedmaster.
$$$ is a good reason why.

Still my fave modern Speedy.

Just before we left for the holidays on yet another doomed travel adventure, I got a call from my AD that they'd received a batch of sapphire and hesalite 3861s and I dropped in to have a quick look. Beautiful watches, and really liked the look of that stepped dial under hesalite, but I just couldn't imagine wearing either every day in place of my FOIS, so think I'll wait a few years and perhaps pick up a hesalite used.

Instead, I did what every good enthusiast does, and rewarded my restraint by picking up a few new FOIS straps...

true, i have to use forstner end links

@ckhaing Would you mind sharing some photos of your FOIS with the 321 bracelet installed? I’m seriously considering this myself, would be good to see the result before I shell out the cash though. Have any other forum members bought the 321 bracelet?

Never say never with Omega and Speedy variants, but I personally think this is highly unlikely.

The FOIS ran for 8 years and only 16,000 were made in that time. Despite its devotees (and there are many here, including myself), it never exactly flew off the shelf.

Calibre 3861 represents a new stage in the Speedy evolution but also a slight shift in price point - one which I think is here to stay. You will not get a new Speedy at the same price point as the FOIS (which was never issued with a bracelet) again now. And certainly not with 3861 and a bracelet.

Enjoy yours! Mine says hi:

I wear mine the same way.
OB ordered that for me, now on FOiS
here is the part number

How long did it take for the OB to get you that bracelet?

Love my FOIS, it's so satisfying its the only Omega I own. Bought mine in 2015, chose it over the Pro, just preferred the way it looked.

In early July 2021, I bought the Omega 321 bracelet for it and fell in love all over again!

@Mspeedster Looks great, thanks for sharing! Are you using the end links that came with the 321 bracelet, or Forstner end links? If the former, did you need to modify them to fit the FOIS case? Thanks

[Edit: I’ve just found your post explaining the end link situation on another thread, I see you’ve used Forstner links - thank you]

Yes, I've been using the Forstner solid end links with the Omega 321 bracelet for the last 8 months. But I just purchased the Uncle Seiko solid end links to give them a try.

I like them better than the US hollow links for sure. They sit more flush with the lugs compared to the Forstner end link and have tighter tolerances, overall I think it's well made and at a lower price. But the downside is that the male end of the Omega 321 link is a VERY VERY tight squeeze into the US solid end link. So tight that I thought it didn't fit at first. Once I got it in, it needed a little grease in order to move more freely. For that reason, I can't recommend them over the Forstner solid or US hollow end link for use with the 321 bracelet.

As for looks, still not sure which I prefer better. They both look nice to me. Here's my FOIS with US solid end links and 321 bracelet. The Forstner end links are shown in my previous pic above.

I was looking for fois model recently because i have smallish wrist but when i tried the new 2021 speedmaster i realised i can actually pull it off so i gave up. I think it is a fantastic model but the professional model is better imo😀
