I don't have one but I love the look of the FOIS. I think it offers the vintage look with the modern improvements.

The only one I have is the LE CK2998 blue panda. Frankly, I don't care much for the case size or design compared to the larger 42mm standard Speedmaster, but that's just a personal feeling. Obviously many guys love it, if it grabs you go for it.

I love the FOIS. It flew under the radar for me until my OB manager pointed it out to me, he said it was a "sleeper" watch and that I should consider it. I thanked him and left the store, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I called him a few days later and it had been sold. I asked him to keep an eye out for one, and we both agreed that we most likely wouldn't see one available in the system again since it has been discontinued for some time. I got a call a month or so after we spoke and he said that something weird had happened. He told me that a FOIS had become available and that he had grabbed it for me in case I still wanted it, I couldn't get down to the store fast enough! Super happy with the watch, mine says hi.

the difference between FOIS and speedmaster professional 1861 cannot be reflected enough in photos videos. in person, they surely look as different watches.

I was on the fence as I wanted a speedmaster but wasn't sure which one - it's hard to ignore the enthusiasm for the fois on OF - I was convinced to buy one and very happy I did - it's a really cool piece. 😀

I like mine no complaints at all. Great size too

That is a great strap — like the pop of colour against the dial,

I like it a lot, so much I bought the gold variant, too. Need to wear it more though, this is currently my go to:

I purchased my FOIS in September last year not long before they were discontinued. I'm really happy with mine and primarily went after it because it's just a little different than the standard Moonwatch.

I've seen a lot of folks mention the sapphire as something they would change, but I think two things that bother me more are the intentionally mis-matched hands on the registers (wish they had just gone with one style) and the crown is a little hard to grip/wind because it's so slim.

Otherwise, great watch. I'm honestly surprised the prices on these have not really crept up after being discontinued, so it seems now is as good a time as any to buy one if you're interested.

I have to respectfully disagree. If you check out the price graph on Chrono24, you'll see that the price has gone from AU$5500 in July 2020 to AU$7700 in July 2021.
Otherwise, congrats and enjoy!

It looks like a good number of FOiS inventory popped up this summer, despite the production was announced ‘discontinued’. Haven’t heard yet 16,xxx numbers though.

I'm pretty sure I've fallen out of love with mine. I find the highly-reflective alphas too hard to read. There's a chance I'll sell it to fund when I find my birthyear Speedy, but I may hang on to it anyway for the sentimental attachment of having gotten it on another birthday in another country.

Why don't you try with white hands instead?
You can see the result observing any "Ed White".

To me, the whole point of getting the FOIS is because you love the vintage look of the silver alpha hands and you're prepared to forgive its shortcomings. If you want the last word in legibility and functionality, then get the Pro or the Ed White. Just my 2 cents.

I got my FOIS in 2014….sold it and missed it so much that I purchased again in 2015. It’s so versatile bridging the gap between dressy and sporty. I got the new 3861 speedy pro earlier this year but still love the FOIS more.
I actually love the alpha hands and OEM strap. On my small 6.25 wrist it wears beautifully…

Chrono24 price guides are a point of reference but aren't really representative of true market value since they use "list prices" to form a determination of "price." To me, Ebay sold prices and Watchrecon are a lot more realistic in determining real world value. There's a FOIS just listed on WUS for $4000 USD and plenty others over the summer in the same range. I still think this model is undervalued, relatively speaking.

Yes, the FOIS is eminently moddable. I've not modded any of my watches, beyond straps/bands. Maybe someday I'll get the courage.

Yes, I don't fault the FOIS for what it is and I don't hate it. I just wish I could have tried it for 90 days (like a mattress) before buying. But I might have wound up with something less special. I did something I rarely do: Walked into a boutique (Madrid) without having researched it to death and fretted over the decision for months first.

This is kind of what I'm afraid of. I know tastes change and evolve. What I don't love today may be most cherished tomorrow. I admit to a bit of FOMO and was attracted to the numbered (if not limited, at the time) edition status as well.
