Did I buy a fake Aqua Terra for 2k?

Hey everyone, thanks for reading and sorry if this isn’t the correct location for this thread.

I recently purchased this Aqua Terra from a private seller on C24. From what I can tell in my very limited knowledge the watch appears to be genuine but I’m naturally skeptical so I’m wondering if anyone else can chime in.

I understand it can be really difficult to give any sort of meaningful analysis from pictures alone especially since I’m too afraid to remove the caseback (never seen a bracelet that attached like this before). But from what is shown here are there any red flags that jump out?

If it’s helpful, here are some things I’ve sussed out already.

The vertical engravings match omegas photos of the original. The vertical engravings are in the correct spots and distances. For example, there should be six of them above the date window which there are. Three of them between the date window and the edge of the dial, and one that aligns dead center with the bottom of the 12 lume. The hand motions and finishing on the hands also appears as it should.

It looks absolutely fake to me. Shallow, sloppy laser engraving. Did Chrono24 not authenticate it for you? Let others chime in, but I would report it to Chrono24.

What's the model reference of it? Helps in finding pictures to compare.

I know expert on AT. But the case back doesn’t look right nor the printing of Aquaterra on the back. The printing on the dial looks poor for Omega but might just be the image quality and lighting

You can't really tell a lot from those pictures.

Post the full serial number here (it is a little blurred above) and if asked nicely, one of our members who has Omega extranet access can check for you if it actually matches that model.

Yeah good call, appreciate anyone with access whos able to verify that. 92622665 is the serial im able to see, if someone would be kind enough to search that itd be massively helpful.

Would it be ill advised to remove the caseback myself? I have a tool for it but Im worried about compromising water resistance

@Archer Hi Al, could you take a look at this serial please to see if it is indeed from this model. That should give a quick and definitive answer.

Cheers

Went ahead and faced my fears here and took the caseback off. Here’s what was inside.

As I was doing this something stuck out- the Aqua Terra engraving has it in order “Aqua Terra [notch] 150/500ft [notch] ^omega logo above notch , circle logo”

But every image I’ve been able to find over the last hour or two has been Aqua Terra [notch] ^omega logo above , 150/500ft [notch] engraved logo

Does that stand out as odd? Could it be a caseback from another Aqua Terra, maybe replaced?

Looks like you got lucky. Lesson learned; always better to ask before making a purchase, not after.

Does this point to the watch being genuine? Again apologies if these are silly questions, is this movement not generally known to be used in counterfeits?

I do find the caseback engravings concerning, any thoughts on that?

It's a mass produced entry level watch. Manufacturing variations are to be expected.

That’s a fair point and does make me feel slightly less paranoid. Just seems like an odd out of place sorta thing I guess.
