Did I buy a replica Speedmaster Date?

Hello! I just purchased a Speedmaster Date for my son for his 21st birthday. It's a reference number 323.30.40.40.06.001. I purchased the watch from a reputable dealer in Japan (Watchnian). I was told the watch was serviced last month prior to them listing it for sale and it essentially looks brand new. When I look at the dial with a loupe, though, each of the hour indices has a hairline scratch running across it, all of which appear to be an equal distance up from the tip. It seems as if they may have occurred when the indices were placed on the dial since they're all uniform.

Also, the hands have a few very faint hairline scratches and a couple spots on the edges that appear a little rough. All of these are extremely minor and only visible with the loupe. I could see the scratches occurring during a service, maybe even the small rough spots, too.

When I look through a loupe at the hands and hour markers on my Seamsater 300M (which has not yet been serviced), they are flawless. So, I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on whether my son's Speedmaster might not be authentic.

You’ll want to add pictures but also a dealer service is basically a watchmaker getting it up and running. There is no financial incentive for them to do a full disassembly and service/replace parts, etc. They get it ticking and call it a day.

I didn't think the scratches would show up in a photo but I just took this one and you can (I hope) see the scratches on the hour markers. I can't get a good photo of the slight imperfections on the hands.

Just sounds like they were scratched during service. They are highly polished surfaces, so it would be easy to mark them. From that small photo, I don’t suspect a fake, but if you want more confirmation, you’ll need to post a photo of the complete watch.

Thanks for the replies so far. Here's a more complete pic. The watch is difficult to photograph! I will say that, through a loupe, everything else on the dial looks perfect.

I agree. Japanese dealers I have bought from have been very reliable.

That looks entirely correct, and while I’m not going to say they’re all perfect, Japanese dealers are among the least likely to sell a bogus watch

Thanks for all the replies! I feel better about the purchase. It's keeping accurate time (about +3 seconds per day) and my son is thrilled with it, so I'm happy!
