I'm sure I have voiced my opinion of Hamilton in this thread already but if you forgot, I was not a fan.
However, HOWEVER, this season made me respect him a little more.

Funny. I made exactly this comment this morning about Vettel. Regardless if his skills, i;m still not his fan but he has become more down to earth.

I became a Vettel fan early in his RedBull days.
I started watching F1 and did not know who to root for, and I like all the action sport-oriented stuff RedBull did so i decided to root for Seb because he was in a RedBull car, and was also close to my age.
Turned out he was decent (at least in the RB car lol).
So I'm still a fan but this season really made me question if he has what it takes.
He really seemed to crack under the pressure.
In his RB days, there was really not much competition if I recall, he clearly had the best car and no one could really keep up, almost literally.
But now that there is another car out there that is at least equal to his, that changes the game.
Both him and Hamilton had their "moments" during this season but adrenaline is always high, and they are there to win.
So it's understandable, and at the end of the day the better team and driver came out on top.

When I was at the USGP, the Red Bull section above the garage was jam packed with all of the VIP's and fans. Ferrari was empty while Mercedes was somewhat packed. I was talking to my friends that went to the race with me and this is probably because RB seems more accessible to the common man, Mercedes you can buy your way in, while Ferrari is too exclusive. I respect RB for all the stuff they do to try to bring in everyday people compared to Ferrari where you have to be super rich or a famous celebrity.

Only just caught up with the race, is there a Nordic word to describe the stress of avoiding a sporting event on social media? I'm currently travelling a lot, still, travelling more than Alonso, poor chap, he cannot wait for this season to be over. Where's he off to next?
On a lighter note, was good to see the Renaults wake up a bit even if only due to altitude.
Has Hartley been confirmed for next year?

When it's all said and done it was a good season, but it would have been so much better with the F1 Pit girls, just look they even managed to get this miserable git to smile.

I believe this is the latest officially announced lineup. Obviously Stroll is going to Force India but I guess it hasn't been announced yet.

Thoughts on ocon and verstappen incident ... Just watched the incident following and if I was max I could be excused for shoving him.

Max played Russian Roullette passing Ocon and lost.
Agree, Max and Esteban have a previous record of clashes in the lower formulae. Was it not Jackie Stewart who said something along the lines of "The secret to winning is to eliminate the things that can stop you doing so."

It was 100% Ocon’s fault but Max can’t be that stupid on the track. In Singapore, Grosjean and Sirotkin we’re ignoring a bunch of blue flags and Lewis decided to wait for a safe spot to pass rather than risk crashing out. Max needs to learn the same thing.

Max still can’t see the bigger picture and is too focused on only what’s in front of him. You can do that when you’re in a RB that isn’t fighting for championships, but if you’re in serious contention, that attitude will cost you big time.

Wasn't the last back marker to take out the lead car VES dad back in 2000 ish??? Ahahahaha. Gutted for him though, super annoying.

No idea why OCN came back at him, not heard his take on it.

Ocon had just pitted for new tires and wanted to get unlapped while he still had good tires which he’s allowed to do. Force India gave him the go ahead since Max and RB was basically managing the gap to Lewis at that point and wasn’t really trying to put in fast laps.

Interesting idea, unlapping yourself on VES...
Hope that hasn't buggered his chances for a seat next year. Hes not confirmed anywhere yet.

He'd have unlapped then 2 to 3 laps down would have been lapped again. Correct Max needs to think of the bigger picture but he probably wasn't expecting some jumped up Force India driver to suddenly appear from nowhere. Maybe the team could've radio'd Max but either way for Ocon it was pointless and for Max it was position damaging and could've put him out.
I'd have love to have been a fly on the wall in both debriefs....

Looking at the onboard footage it was incredibly rash of Ocon not to back out at the second right turn, and I think a total shock for VER. I don't think he would have tried this if the leader was HAM or VET. Having said that its a valuable lesson in minimising risks, and he will have banked that knowledge. HAMs response in the post race drivers room would have been hard to take!

Max can/will be good...if he'll allow himself.

Can will? I rate him as the second best driver of the current F1 pilots!

I neither agree or disagree with you, but that does not mean much if almost every time someone comes next to him, someone ends up facing the wrong way...
And don't get me wrong...I like the guy, I just think he needs to fine tune his style a little bit in order to become a world champion.
But I believe he definitely has the potential, just needs to work on his risk assessment, and perhaps anger management.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but Max could have just left him room on the inside.
