It's a shame this incident has taken over the attention of the race. We forget that Max passed Vettel, Raikkonen, Bottas and Hamilton on track, amazing job and great pace.

Shitty incident, dumb, sure.
But I can't say I don't like the passion after the race, it's not like he threw an uppercut at Ocon, he just shoved him a little bit, come on, let's not become over sensitive.

Yes it does if Ocons fighting for points and trying to close with the guy ahead and Max was obviously slower with old tires and a conservation mode.

Ocon was in 16th place, he was not going to make up 6 places and gain a point. Ocon had little to nothing to gain as far as I can see, and they were in different races. You don't battle the leader when your a lap down.

@Dogmann That what the rules say, I was explaining why they are in place. I have raced Karts and have held an FIA racing licence, I should probably understand the flag system quite well.

Agreed.
Prior to every race, there is a drivers meeting in which they explain the blue flags: "If you see a blue flag, that means there is a race going on and you are not in it. Move over".

Blue flags aren't in question here, though. Ocon made a pass that was within the rules but a dick move. Not respected by other teams or drivers which is why he is out of a ride next year. Max tried to pass him back which was a stupid move. Cars collide and casual racing fans love the drama.

Drivers love to battle for position. It's the best part of racing. Passing back markers is something they dread. Blue flags are in place to minimize this pain because back markers are battling between themselves and they need to be reminded that there is a race going on and they are not in it.

Huh!? Ocon is out of a ride because dad Stroll bought Lance his own team and the Renault teams didn't want a Mercedes driver for potentially only a year. Same with Williams.

Yeah I don't think that it is because "no one wants" Ocon, he just did not have anywhere to go at the moment.
He basically got screwed out of a ride.
Has there been an official confirmation of Lance Stroll driving for Force India though?
I mean, I'm sure its inevitable, but I don't remember seeing anything.

If Max needed a ride next season, think he would have trouble?

I forgot about the Stroll news a couple months back. Money in F1 is worthy of a thread of its own. Drivers who essentially buy their seat whether it's family or sponsors.

Don't get me wrong, Ocon is fast. I always watch for him to do something crazy/insane and sometimes pull it off. When his shenanigans impact the result of the race, my blood boils a bit. Was it this year or last when he had so many issues with Perez? Now they are forbidden to race each other?

He's in the Mercedes program. Maybe a test driver for a year and prove he can control the impulses a bit more.

It was last year and this year with the Perez incidents but they weren't all Ocon's fault. It was probably 50/50 where they were both hitting each other.

Today's race was awesome!
Maybe not so much the battle for the race win, but everything behind it was great.
Loved the dual overtake by Vandoorne and the Force India on Grosjean.
This was truly worth watching.

Huh, it feels odd to see people talking about this because a bunch of my friends signed up for customer service parttime jobs for the event. When I see the discussion here at OF suddenly things start to seem more closer to life.

Ferrari had the better car for the first half of the season but failed to develop the car like Mercedes who turned it on after the summer break. Vettel and Ferrari both crumbled under the pressure from Mercedes and Lewis.

Lewis is the best driver.

Bottas lost his confidence.

McLaren realized their aero department sucks once they stopped blaming Honda.

Kimi won a race!

Max is still immature and now he gets to have another immature teammate in Gasly.
