Got back from the race. Sitting in the main grandstands is awesome in the shade. Really exciting race although the final outcome that I wanted to see of Lewis winning the title didn’t happen, it was still great to see Kimi winning.

Kimi's post race interview was another classic. That guy is the definition of deadpan. Happy to see him get the win!

Great race , deserved winner and about @##$ing time too in his own words. Seems HAM not winning it this time around has subdued everyone? Where's the usual VER pile on?😝

Thought VET summed up his championship ambitions with that awful attempt at an overtake on RIC, I suddenly had a thought of him retiring end of season,or maybe next and VER going to Ferrari...

I am a UK resident so I know I will have problems watching as I will be in the French Alps next weekend so I will have to rely on Radio 5 Live which is a real bummer. Ferrari did some stonking times in testing so it could be even closer this year..lets hope so.

Hi all,

Despite Hamilton failing to win his 5th title in this race (I'm pretty sure next race he will do it) I thought it was a really great race with plenty of action through the field. As for Vettel it seems even the commentators are beginning to question his race craft as his amount of contacts and ending up spinning continues to grow by virtually each race now, and it can't always be the others guy fault now can it?

The only thing I found really sad was at the end of the first qualifying session the last 4 cars were two McLaren's and 2 Williams something I would never of thought possible when I first started watching F1 all those years ago. Just how the once mighty have fallen virtually proving now a days if you don't have a manufacturer partner for your engine and all the sponsorship that it brings you really are fighting in a 2nd league of F1 and it's virtually impossible to break through to the top 6.

I also think next year is going to be even more interesting than this year has been as really do think Red Bull with Honda power and their great chassis will be right up there giving the Merc's and Ferrari a run for their money and it really does look like McLaren made a really bad decision on bailing on Honda just before things seem to have come good. I also think Ricciardo made a bad move to Renault and when he sees just how good the Red Bull/Honda package is will wonder what the hell he did and why. Who knows as obviously he has more info then us and maybe Renault get on par with the others and he can still race them.

People used to say Vettel was not much of a racer, didn't have to overtake much in the dominant RB years. Since then he's disproved that notion many a time. I wonder what your at-the-wheel qualifications are for deeming that an 'awful attempt at an overtake?' Vettel's situation currently is that it has to be sh1t or bust and he went for it, (just as - and think how often he's praised for this - Ricciardo often does). That was simply what can happen when closely matched drivers go wheel to wheel and there was neither malice or incompetence on either side.

Vettel already has considerable resilience - witness the post-spin drive back towards the front this race and others - and this season will have done much to strengthen his tactical and strategic thinking at the wheel. So to retire now would be unfortunate as I can easily see there being another Five Times Champion in 2019.

Funny, i had the same thought. VER has a contract for '19 AND 20, but there appears to be a clause that RB / Honda must offer a "winning car" (in some shape or form, likely to be 20 pages of legal contract bull***&^ to describe whats a winning car), or VER is at liberty to go elsewehere.

SO... if Honda is great next year, cool. If not, i could see VER replacing VET (its just one letter 😀
