Was wondering the same. What problem did they have, others didn't, and that is the most efficient solution. I'm pretty sure Sauber are still using lollipop sticks
Best guess is that the design cuts down on vibration, something a lot of drivers have complained about as affecting their rear vision both at speed and cornering. That said, it does seem to offer the opportunity to further control air flow.
Edit: i might well have confused two conversations there ... my reply was to the question of the new mirror design.
What was Grosjean thinking on lap 1?
Car in front got out of shape he had to hit his brakes and it unsettled the car. Once it started to rotate not much he could really do. When the final replays came out later you could see it was not really his fault.
On the other hand... Max got in another accident.
I usually agree with you but not on this one.
Grosjean said after the race that he lost the car when he broke and he tried to do a 360 to recover, you just can't do a 360 in turn 3 on lap 1 in the middle of the traffic. It was fully his fault after he reacted to Magnussen having a moment.
And on your comment on Max, yup he had an incident, but Ricciardo spun, Kimi's car blew up, Vettel couldn't catch up to Max, lots of things happening, and always people will comment on 1 guy if he had one moment but drove an amazing race, and that's Max.
We did have a run of 3 pretty decent races. We're bound to get a dud every once in awhile.
Hah that's pretty good.
What are the chances he finds a wall this weekend?
Also, Hypersofts making their debut this weekend...
