I am a fan of all Seiko divers, new and old. In particular the 7002-7000’s. I picked up this ‘95 last year and sent it out to Seth @hubcityvintage for a service along with another one from “92.

National Pocket Watch Day, April 18, 2024. The 1926 Illinois Sangamo Special gets the call as the "town watch" today.

Older photo of movement just after its arrival and before a service. "Thar's gold in them there movements!"

This watch has two major flaws:

1) It demands to be worn all the time, and

2) No photograph ever does it justice 😀

Thanks to NAWCC for publicizing National Pocket Watch Day, and to @noelekal for announcing it here. I’ll wear three watches, today. My long term test Rolex Oyster Date-Just, my 1969 Bulova Accutron which I recently serviced, and my 18-size, 11-jewel, 1877 model Waltham from 1883. To make this an International event, at least one Canadian is observing it. This watch was offered to me, gratis, because it needed work, and the previous owner didn’t consider it important enough to fix it. So rather than to take it for free, I offered him $50.00 (Cdn.). He was glad to accept the offer. I had NOS parts on hand to complete the repairs it needed, and now I enjoy it a whole lot! Worn on my leather pocket watch lanyard from @Duracuir1 .

...and thanks to @Canuck and @noelekal , I'm carrying Grandad's workingman's Waltham today in celebration of (Canadian?) National Pocket Watch Day. No, Grandad was not Canadian, but he did have a few farmer friends in Alberta and I imagine he'd want to join in the celebration. His watch turns 100 years old this year.

I'm also sporting one of @DaveK 's custom lanyards today. Grandad was a farmer 'till the day he died and I recall him keeping this pocketwatch in the centre pocket of his bib overalls, secured with a white cotton shoelace. As frugal as he was, I still think he'd be OK with a fancy leather lanyard.

It’s American Railroad Pocket Watch day and I’m travelling without a pocket watch 😬. I’m so embarrassed that I can’t even show my face

We have a new visitor for the past couple of weeks on daily basis... He is intrigued watching Neo sleeping inside. He is very curious but scared as soon as I try to open the door.

Oh yeah, rocking the national day one on a @DaveK lanyard!

National Pocket Watch Day? Here are a couple pocket-to-wristwatch conversions. First up, a 1906 Dueber Hampden, making use of Hampden's "The Four Hundred" lever-set movement (lever at 5:00 position). Second, a 1916 Hampden with "Molly Stark" movement.

Happy Pocket Watch Day! Cheers!!

Dang! I forgot again! Can someone please make a perpetual calendar pocket watch that will play a special chime on April 18 so I don't forget again in the future?
