God I love the blues. I think it’s kinda sad blues and Motown seen to be overlooked to a degree these days. There are always fans and pre covid when I went to blues festivals there were always good turn outs but still it’s seems to niche for what may be the true American music. I work with a lot of young guys and they are always rapping and saying how it’s “their true ethnic music, the original one.” Hey that’s fine but I ask them if they have ever heard of johny Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker, James Jameson (the bass of Motown music) etc. they look at me like I have two heads. I just find it kinda sad as those guys went through a lot of hell to bring us that beautiful music. I know it’s not gone or lost just so under appreciated but maybe that’s part of what makes it the blues. If I had to pick a favorite, which is hard to do with music I’d say Willie Dixon. He pretty much taught me how to play the bass. I’d have to listen to the same song four times to pick out he was playing out of key and off time and it worked perfectly. He wasn’t making a mistake, he was making new rules. Actually those are only western music rules anyway. But yeah anyway here is Willie without his bass, he was the blues.
By the way, in my eyes this was the first rap song. Many disagree with me but in my heart I know it’s true
