So I play music in the shop all day long. I listen to a lot of different styles of music, but today was some classic rock while working on a Speedmaster - Budgie!

They have had some great songs over the years (very influential group in many ways), but one of my favourite albums of theirs is Bandolier. Great stuff.

Couple of my favourite tracks from that one:

Part 2 really rocks in this one...about 2:30 in...

So what is everyone listening to?

    Cheers, Al

Been listening to Davy Knowles, a good OL boy from the Isle of Man...this guy tears it up on the guitar and has an great voice to boot. If you like bluesy rock and don't know who this is...well this is your wake up call. I can't believe this guy is not a household name yet...key word, yet!

Here are two samples of Davy with his band Back Door Slam...

Have seen him live many times and he never disappoints!

Very early Frankie Beverly and MAZE, one of the very best funk/soul bands ever...

Interesting stuff....okay the rain song is not really my thing, but like seeing/hearing what others are listening to. ;)

Major change of pace for me today....Canadian 80's at it's best:

Brings back many memories from college...

No music, an old Fred Dibnah programme on the mining industry as was in Britain.
Plenty clips on You Tube of this steeplejack, steam engine enthusiast and lover of most things mechanical.

Always makes me think of my younger days, many characters like Fred. Working guys with little or no formal education but "well read" and able to talk with authority on many subjects.

Completely...It's his knowledge on specialist subjects that keeps you enthralled and above all, his storytelling. I don't know any of the current "educated" peeps that speak so eloquently or with quite the same charm..

Guy Martin is a bit like dear old Fred with his love of things old and mechanical. He is an amazing motorbike racer, lives on a narrow boat and drives a V12 Aston. IIRC, he had a television series last year - Top bloke.

At the office today, selections from the complete piano concertos of Mozart performed by the underrated Geza Anda, soloing and conducting the Camerata Academica of the Salzburg Mozarteum (on DG Collectors Edition, slim-line box set; original recordings from the '60s, mostly). Right now No. 11 (K. 413) is playing as I type. These are among the most satisfying renditions I've heard; I can't believe I only picked up this set last month, and I've been a classical record collector for 35 years.

Cool thread, I haven't heard Budgie for years! I was thrashing Santana's Moonflower album on a road trip yesterday. His best live performance IMHO.
Listening to my sons band this morning. He's the one playing guitar on the left

At the moment, when i'm not learning Operas and playing Jazz and listening to Symphonic works, I stick this album on in the car by "Matthew Jay" called 'Draw.' He died way too young like a lot of the great singer songwriters.. I like many of the song writers and lyricists, joni mitchell, Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley....etc.

Ha - Yes, maybe a score of lieder (German Art Songs) he/she probably recognised, not Sonatas, but songs. I'll have to check that out, didn't know about that blog!
