Look for an alpha/numeric code on the outside of the case back. The alpha character gives the decade, and the numeric gives the year. M9 would be 1969.

Amazing! I looked for something like this when I first inherited the watch but couldn't find anything that told me for sure. N2 = 1972
Thank you!

I have some older pocket watches but I will limit it down to wrist watches and Omega...

One of my favorite Omegas, a silver-cased "Banana" from the 20ies including original strap and silver buckle.

To give you an idea of its impressive size I add a photo where its beside a Speedmaster for comparison.

for all the critics: I know that the chronograph hand on the E.W. is a younger (wrong) replacement - has been replaced already...

My oldest watch is this giant size 18 Hampden (Grade 21, Model 3) pocket watch. The purchase price was $8 back in 1893. Thanks again to @Fritz for this 👍

Oldest Omega? This c1906 with an absolutely bonkers typeface. It sees active duty on casual Fridays at work.

My oldest wrist watch is this c1950 Gruen

If the serial numbers found on Louis Brandt pocket watches fit with the Omega serial#/date list I referred to, this Louis Brandt CCR is dated circa 1906.

Two Benson-watches with enamel-dial and silver Dennison-case from the 30ies?? The lugs of the first one were added / restored / changed later.

The cases on your Benson wrist watches (assuming they are both by Dennison), will have a hallmark and a date letter inside the case back. It should be possible to trace the date letter.

Certainly the oldest but as yet I have not been able age it, perhaps if I put in a bit more effort 🤦

This is my oldest - not sure if it’s 30’s or 40’s. Still ticking along well when I fire it up, keeping good time considering it’s age

What a beautiful case, is it a clamshell?
