1975 caravale... Not worthy of a photo. Lol

Aw, go ahead. There's no shame in a Caravellle. My childhood watch was a mid-sized Caravelle produced not long after Bulova introduced the brand.

This circa 1927 Illinois Bunn special which I just picked up last week. My new favorite desk candy to fiddle around with when I need a screen break.

What a beautiful case, is it a clamshell?

Yes, with fixed lugs (hence the bodged / adapted strap 😉 - I’ll get a proper one one day). It doesn’t have any screws on the back, so I’m guessing it’s a friction fit of some kind. The case is a nice rose gold colour, which I feel complements the dial nicely.

Would be nice to see a picture of the back👍

Wow, that’s a hell of a history for a family watch. Now I really want to see it!
It's good that I took another look at it. Because the plexi popped off. So it needs to go to my watchmaker.

@gbesq - great idea for a thread and some lovely watches here. 👍

Mine is a humble 1943 6B221 Dennison / Smiths Air Ministry stop watch ... with a 42/43 Omega UK2292 a close second. I have an older pocket watch in storage somwhere / need to dig it out.

Very cool that so many of these examples are pocket watches which is largely what I expected. Some amazing pieces with fascinating histories! That beng said, some of the wristwatches really surprised me, including the "banana" submitted by mac_omega.

Adding in my wife’s ‘39 Bulova “Ben Hur”, the oldest wrist watch in the house
