What’s your least favorite watch in your current collection and why is it in your collection?

I’m sure many of us have a pile of junkers that we wouldn’t consider as part of the collection so let’s eliminate those from consideration.

Here’s mine: the watch that started this whole mess. I was looking for a watch to buy for my wedding in 2017. I picked this up for a couple hundred dollars and it worked out well for what I needed.

It'll always be a part of my collection because I wore it for my wedding (or at least as long as the marriage lasts 😉 ) though I’d love to pick up a nice original dial for it one day.

Undoubtedly this one:

I bought it new when it came out in 2004, supposedly as a limited edition inspired by the Kirovskie model from 1943. But it instead prompted the brand to come up with a whole range of reissues of this historic watch, most of them a lot more faithful to the original than mine is. Add to that a pretty shoddy construction (the bracelet and its end pieces rattle like no other watch I've ever seen, including vintage ones) and a general design I've grown tired of, and you get a watch that I no longer wear at all. And it being Russian doesn't help change my mind these days.

It's still with me because I could never be arsed to sell it, knowing that I wouldn't get much out of it anyway. But I'm thinking about listing it on a French language forum and see if anyone is interested.

The Seiko I bought for $75 on Amazon...I think it originally retailed for around $200. Everything works, but you can't wind it manually with the crown, you have to shake the watch for 2 or 3 minutes and then put it on and keep busy until it charges up The movement is made in Malaysia and it keeps good time. When viewed through the back crystal it is very presentable. Still, it's just a cheap but relatively well made watch. I haven't worn it for almost a year and don't know when I ever will. A great watch for suicide missions?

The second is a quartz from Tourneau that my late step-father bought years ago. After his passing, I kept it because he enjoyed wearing it. And it isn't unattractive. It had stopped running and I took it to a local watch repair shop to change the battery. It came back needing a new quartz motor...so I had him put in a generic one. But in the process the dial got damaged at the 10 and 11 markers and half of the watch's name. He claimed that water damage led to this damage...who knows. Anyway, now it works...actually keeps very good time. It hangs on a push pin next to the Seiko. I have no idea what I'll ever do with these two.

If I had to pick one probably this One. Impulse buy on an online auction but on the fence if it speaks to me to be honest.

The hour and minute hands look almost the same length. Have you been inside this one...and is it quality and interesting?

Behold the Tissot Data Recorder. It's a Tissot... with a Casio module. It's the most complicated and bizarrely designed watch ever made. If you can figure how to set this thing and change modes you're a genius. I can only wear it during daylight savings because I can't set the time

Looks like a Speedmaster “Speedy Tuesday” Ultraman (311.32.42.30.01.001).

The second hand is over hour hand, that's why it looks this way.

@rspace I think I know what you mean. The pattern on the dial looks great in the pictures, but it's something different, and hard to tell how it looks in person.

Right on! I thought of it as a poor man’s polerouter when I bought it. . I will probably change my mind once it gets to a watchmaker and gets cleaned. It was an estate sale piece so has dirt all over.

I know a good speech therapist if you want to send it to me for a year or so… I promise when I send it back it'll have a story to tell..

Probably my Apple Watch… battery life is too short and the notifications are constant. Cool health features, though.

I guess my Hamilton Perry that I have up for sale. I like the watch a lot but it no longer gets much in the way of wrist time, so it's time to go.

I don’t have pics handy but my least favorite was my Batman GMT-Master II, it was an underwhelming watch to wear, took far too long to set in the mornings, and as a complication was pretty worthless since I remember timezones and can do basic math. Because of what a pain it was to set I wore it only a handful of times and dumped it on a friend for about what I paid for it.
