Light as a feather, great lenses and fantastic customer service.
For me, the one that immediately jumps out is Barbour.
I have to tell you that the idea of being intensely loyal to a brand is very strange. It is like being intensely loyal to a hyena 'cos it only bit your fingers off, and left some poop for your roses.
I've spent a fair few ££££ on Barbour over the years and rare their wax jacket, knitwear, shirts and polo's.
But, I bought 2 pairs of their boots and 1 pair fell apart after light use but when I got in touch with customer services because I'd had the boots for a couple of years they wouldn't help.
The couple of years included lockdown when they weren't worn at all.
I won't be buying again.
The Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is probably one of the few modern fragrances I would wear- it’s very much rooted in vintage style- like his clothing line. It’s like a brighter and less droning version of the Guerlain Vetiver which was one of the classic men’s fragrances from the 50’s- but so soapy and over the top you feel like you need another rinse in the shower after putting it on.
Perhaps if I mixed it with cigarettes, hair cream and bourbon it would make more sense.
At the risk of getting banned (who cares!). this is completely insane. Many thousands of kids have their lives ruined by worrying what people think of their appearance, and many die as a result. We blame it all on social media, but perhaps grandad, and his watch kicked it off!
I think it’s more just brands that are dependable / reliable / known to be very good quality such that you can often buy once and not worry. It’s not really meant to be about brand envy or peer pressure.
Just like Le Cresuet pots and stuff are good because they last a long time and work well, that kind of thing.
I don't have a problem with appreciating quality products, or having loads of money. It is judging people by what they wear, or kids having to have the right trainers that bothers me.
Thomas Pink ... though I'm not sure what's happening with them since LVMH sold the brand. They're not even particularly expensive but they fit a gorilla like me straight off the peg, if you order the extra long sleeves.
I went through a TPink phase and found their QC all over the place. Some were awesome, some the button holes were barely big enough to get the buttons through (and those thin buttons tore my fingers up trying to get them in). They clearly source from different facilities (and have different price points) so I guess results may vary.
I'm in the UK and have bought from their stores and online .... never had that type of issue. They do have different "grades" or collections and all mine are from their luxury or casual lines. Is that the difference?
Agreed with the sentiment in regards to children, but that is not what is going on in this thread. We are all mature adults and hopefully comfortable enough with ourselves to not feel judged by how others perceive us. If this thread is triggering for some, perhaps they should examine why,
